It's not surprising that the median win rate is below 50%. The mean win rate could still be 50%, but the higher win rate champions get played a lot more than lower ones, so the positive win rates are weighted much more heavily.

The mean win-rate is exactly 50%. That's how mean works =P

Of course. The majority of champions have a sub-50 winrate, but it's balanced out by some exceptionally high winrates that bring the mean to exactly 50%.

Next up water is wet. (btw it literally has to be 50% win rate. Champion.gg misses games somtimes)

The outcome is indeed mind-boggling. Great science often starts with "hmm, that's odd..."

The number of games played by each champion, divided by the total games listed gives their proportion of participation in the dataset.

It's pretty weird, not going to lie. but the math makes it so that it should be 50%, so it's either the math is flawed. there are games where both sides lose. champion.gg doesn't record all the games. Using logic you would assume it's champion.ggs fault.

incorrect, the Win rate of GAMES is 50%

This is a median win rate for CHAMPIONS, which does not have to be 50%.

Example:

Game 1 A B C D E vs F G H I J Team 1 wins

Game 2 A F B G H vs K L M N O Team 2 wins

A: 50% 1/2 B: 50% 1/2 C: 100% 1/1 D: 100% 1/1 E: 100% 1/1 F: 0% 0/2 G: 0% 0/2 H: 0% 0/2 I: 0% 0/1 J: 0% 0/1 K: 100% 1/1 L: 100% 1/1 M: 100% 1/1 N: 100% 1/1 O: 100% 1/1

Count: 15 Sum: 900 Mean: 60 Median: 100 Mode: 100

Since not every champion can be played in every game neither the mean or median will ever be truly 50% until every champion is evenly played.

I see. Ty for the explanation

That isn't unexpected. Champions that have lower kda give the enemy team more gold, which tends to lead to the enemy winning, where high kda is an indicator of your own teams gold.

Gold aside, the more you are dead, the less you are in lane....

An empty lane is winnable by my dog...

ScissorsNstuff1 votes

I think this needs to be done based off specific champs

according to op.gg something like 95% of champs have less than a 50% winrate kek

XD

This statement that 95% of champions lose could be true (unlikely) if the remaining 5% of champions won the balance. Do the remaining 5% of champions appear as the winning side to the 95%'s losses?

Most websites listing champion win rates declare percentage wins much closer to 50%.
