Regarding Shen's Spirit Blade

So ever since Shen's rework, It kind of feels like Shen's kit is lacking thematically with his Spirit Blade acting more like an anchor that needs to be consistently pulled to his location to be relevant. His W is strong when used correctly, but I feel like I can't protect my allies if it originates from his Spirit Blade since Shen consistently pulls his Spirit Blade towards him. I feel like Riot could've done so much more to make Shen, how should I put it, more ninja than he currently is. So it got me thinking of ways that his Q and W could have been done.

His Q could become similar to Eve's Q in that Shen would throw a Spirit dagger or a Vorpal Blade and if it hits an enemy champion it would give Shen his 3 empowered auto-attacks and attack speed. For his W, Shen could designate an area to be a dodge zone instead of it originating from his Spirit Blade.

Now all of this is just my opinion on Shen and how I think he should be to be more fitting to be a protector. So what do you guys think about Shen and his current Spirit Blade mechanics?
