Main Menu Ping Tester

(Before I begin, I was directed/suggested to the forums section by a player support rep.) (I am not entirely sure if this is the right board for me to post this in.) {

Story: Recently, I noticed that my ping as been rather nonstatic when it comes and I am not saying that this is Riot's NA server's fault. I may start a game with 54ms ping and the game after that would be 270ms or 320~ms ping. I hate to start a game expecting playability only to let down my team because I can't contribute on-par plays.

Proposal: A LoL Ping tester built into the main menu (convenience purposes). Where we can get an accurate ping score with the Riot server of use. Perhaps even some tool-tip to inform the user what their ping score means.

Pros: Players that will have 200+ms ping will be able to know that they will be disadvantaged. Therefore, they can second guess clicking play. This can be useful for laptop players that roam place to place in the nonvirtual world.

Cons: More of a reality than a con, ping has risen from 54ms ping to 320ms ping in one game before. So, this isn't something that could help this situation.

Discrediting third party options: I am expecting a comment with something about "use pingtest.net". This will create a false positive of safe ping because it isn't Riot's server being pinged. During one of time periods my ping would be 320~ms on League of Legends, pingtest.net tells me my ping is 37ms. Personally, I would not trust a third party for this. "Set up a custom game to see ping" is another expecting comment that doesn't really sit well with me. Although, I don't have anything on me that would be convincing for or against this other than the ping tester would eliminate that hassle.

Now, I'm not a information technology/systems major yet. I do not know if what I am proposing to be possible at all.

You can actually ping the NA server manually. Click Start (or open your Command Prompt), and type and hit enter;

ping 104.160.131.1 -t

It'll ping Riot's NA server until you hit Ctrl+C. No, I am not discrediting the idea of Riot adding a ping monitor in the client, but giving you an alternative until then.

Thanks for the comment. I have come across it before, but it only prints "General Failure.".

And also thanks for clarifying the discrediting portion. I wasn't trying to be pretentious or anything.

I've never come across the "general failure", so I did a quick google search. I think your firewall is set up to block it somehow. You'd probably have to do a little searching pertaining to your firewall to see how to allow it, if you wanted to run the ping.

I know, just covering my ass so nobody thought I was ignoring the purpose of the post.
