How does the LP system work?

Hey, I was just wondering how the LP system works, I went on a losing streak a long while ago, and have recently been winning but only getting 14-16 LP, and the occasional 19-21 LP, I was wondering what they base it on. The rank i'm in, the rank I play against, my score, my farm, my damage dealt? Just not sure, If someone could help me understand, I'd appreciate it! Thanks! :)

Long story short: you tanked your MMR down to mid-Bronze but not low enough to get demoted. Because you're playing players lower than your current division you are getting less LP per win. Once you win enough games to go back to where you were before your losing streak you should see normal LP gains.

You only get matched against players with similar MMR. Your LP gains are based on the average MMR of the player in your game vs the expected MMR for your division.

If your MMR is lower than the recommended division/tier MMR threshold, then you'll lose more and gain less. If your MMR is around the division/tier MMR threshold, then you gain/lose roughly the same amount. If your MMR is higher then you gain a lot and lose less. That's what I gathered from a two year old post.
