Removing Surrender

I honestly think that the surrender teaches people to quit. When they lose any ounce of hope in a game they then become toxic. I think if we would remove the surrender feature either they will just play it out or AFK. If they AFK we can just report and Riot can take the necessary course of action. There is the other option they can do and become toxic. I understand getting frustrated but keeping a level head is the basis of all competitive games. I think this would teach more people to actually play the game even when behind for a comeback. Thus making the community a little better in lower brackets.

First off, since when is quitting during a game a bad thing when it is impossible to win? Even Chess allows it when you know you've been beat.

Secondly without the surrender vote players who desire to quit will just sit in the fountain and wait for the game to end. Instead of waiting you could be starting a new game. This is assuming the players are non-toxic people who are simply ready for the game to end. Toxicity has nothing to do with it when it mainly effects regular players.

League is too casual for that. Should play DOTA if you want that restriction lifted. The game works well without having to surrender.

Oh yeah because giving up is such a bad thing. Lets make it against the rules to tap out in MA. So if I get you in an arm lock you have to give the match up, or let me break your limb.

Lets remove throwing in the towel for boxing, so that I get to beat you to a bloody pulp to make sure I win in a one sided fight.

Lets just give up every rule, for every game that has the option to surrender so that it drags on for far to fucking long in a one sided match, where all you suffer is stress and anger, because either your team is fucking you over, or the odds were clearly stacked against your favor.

While we're at it, why don't we remove your right to think, because clearly you can't come up with an intelligent thought worth sharing.

Instead I suggest we add in an option for people to individually opt out of a match. But they still have to wait the twenty minutes. If they do it to many times in a row, it begins stacking penalties on the account like IR/XP loss, and eventually a lock out from game play.

It isn't always impossible to win, yet it isn't always impossible to lose by never giving up. I don't believe the option to surrender should be taken away, it is an option, and must be voted on by a majority anyway. For example I had a game today where a jax went 1-7 to a ryze before the first top tier tower was down. Corki was 3-3 lost bot lane. I was 2-1 as ori and I won mid. I knew it was over and tried to surrender at the 20 minute mark but team wanted to keep trying. I continued to try though but every objective/ tower siege we got destroyed because jax was literally useless (he had no boots at the 20 minute mark) and the ryze blew up our entire team. Or the ryze at least set syndra and cait to clean up and they got fed too. That game ended around 30-35 minutes. I could have saved myself 10-15 of getting destroyed and started a game where someone wasn't feeding horribly. Ultimately I didn't get to surrender and my time was wasted, but it would have been nice if we had. Being able to surrender in situations like that to save time definitely needs to stay.

i was in a game, guy took a hero never played even in bots. was down 0-10-0 as adc in like 5 minutes. At 10 minutes we were down 5 towers, every lane was down because their bot lane fully fed just roamed and killed. But this guy had a friend playing with them - they were trolling and did not care about the rest of the 3 playing. Most painful game playing - yes, it made me seriously thinking of just dumping 101 after 3 years of playing it steady.

you only get this type of stupid attitude at lower elo...

Surrenders should start at 5 minutes, each vote decreasing until only 2 votes need to pas surrender. For yes, trolls under bridges come in threes as well. But make it on points - ie $X advantage, number of towers...DC - something intelligent

Same with ARAM - might be shorter games but sorry, it gets painful too.

I rarely surrender. There have been games that looked hopeless that I've won. I've even won a few 4v5s. That being said... there are some games which are so absolutely lost, so mind bendingly bad, that to not surrender is just cruel to the rest of the team. I'm talking it's 13 minutes in and the enemy Vayne is 9/0, they already have dragon and four towers and none of you scale well. On top of that, your Kayle top is telling you to kill yourself and your Morg support has just AFK'd and you're using AP runes on Caitlyn.

Not only is the chance of victory small (almost impossible), but it's actually painful to continue playing.
