Vladimir patch 6.13

Hello all,

First off i just want to say that LoL is an amazing game and both as a developer and practitioner i am very impressed by it and it's features which is simply unmatched by other online games in my opinion, you rock!

This discussion is made in order to perhaps rework Vladimir once more in upcoming patches.

In the recent 6.13 patch 2 changes were made to Vladimir and those changes were a bit cosmetic but it affected greatly about what i thought the main theme of the champion was - to be a built to Kill OR Sustain champion, To be frank i completely understand the need to rework him however, as said above, both of the changes affected the very essence of Vladimir's gameplay which i concluded to be:

  1. Your artifact build - gives you a choice during the game of either being a sustain ap OR a carry ap by navigating your passive (in order to counter|evolve).
  2. Your q expertise - knowing when to Q when enemies approach so you could pool afterwords and Q again for a little more sustain (since its very affected by AP thus your choice begins (spirit visage || something like Protobelt)).

I am certainly not an expert and i am sure that the LoL team has a lot (a lot, a lot) of different variables to take under consideration however i feel that the most important aspect of the game, individually speaking, is the somewhat static general theme of a character which manifest it's vulnerabilities and strengths.

Fact is that even though Vladimir previous build indeed was more Tanky but that doesn't necessarily mean that much more sustain; Vladimir is one of the slowest champs in LoL and thus is more prone to slows and general crowding affects (Pool is genius) and this needs to be taken under consideration that most champs gameplay buffs are usually involved in bonus given for each basic attack and Vlad losing a bit more edge with his Q (specifically he's Q "Crtitical").

Lowering both Q and Passive is "greying" Vladimir previous theme making it a more AP oriented, not carry and without a specific lane characterization (Top? Mid? Supp?) which, for me, kinda takes the edge off trying to play with an AP tank which isn't really a Tank\AP but somehow(*) completes both

Don't get me wrong, Vlad is a great champion!, but even though he's abilities show an interesting potential, the latest Vladimir 6.13 patch rework for me simply blurred my choices about the gameplay build, leading me in a certain path to favor the health bonus received by bonus AP since it calculates better with BOTH the Q and Passive rework making my game that much more predictable in a character which basically has to live the moment...

Please Consider Changing This, thank you for your time and understanding

Best Regards, Mazorsk

Here's my story against Vladimir in lane pre 6.13 :

As Tryndamere, i can't 1v1 him until mid-game, even though he builds no AP / no armor (Spirit Visage + Lucidity and he can 1v1 Tryndamere until mid-game). How fucked up was that ?

Those 6.13 nerfs are spot-on IMO.

totally agree he deserves a fix, but what im saying is basically choose one not both of he's cutting edge tools

imagine i told you trynda gets more hp per rage point, but your ult is now 3.5 secs...

Soooo what you are saying is by building tank he could survive you for 7-8 levels... then you stomp on him for the rest of the game... so he needed nerfed?

I could only 1v1 him because he built only MR and health, while i built an early Botrk / Mortal Reminder, reducing his heals. If he started Zhonya or something like that he would've ripped me off.

What i'm saying is that any noob can 1v2 with Vladimir in 6.12 current state just by building Spirit Visage and Boots of Lucidity.

So he itemized like a Vlad. You itemized like a Tryn. Then you killed him.

Yep nerf Vlad.

The "nerfs" were actually quite smart. The fact is Vlad was building tanky from the start and being extremely oppressive in lane; while his late game was decent but not anything crazy. These "nerfs" are aimed at forcing him to build an AP item or two early thus increasing his damage but making him more vulnerable and then allowing him to building defensive. Full tank vladimir starting with spirit visage (which offers no counter-play if you're playing an AP champ against him is now dead - like it should be.

i completely agree however usually not me or people i spectate did not rush spirit visage only if they are the ones to got stock in the lane fact is that if you go tanky vlad (for instnace when somebody is robbing your lane) then your Q (which should be your start game sustain key point) is simply worthless (you now lose both the AP and the initial damage reduction suffer in 6.13)

Vlad maybe tanky, but also slow and usually does not have basic attacks buffs like most AP midlane champs so he has two disadvantages which, as i stated in the discussion, forcing you to choose a fixed build making him, in my point of view, more predictable and less fun to play with.

I totally understand why they fixed him after the latest rework - i also witness the lane domination phase early in the game, but my point is that Vlad has, like a lot of other special champions, has static theme which in the latest 6.13 patch is quite obfuscated for me

Some how, I doubt that will be the case. His passive, while going back to favoring AP, isn't going to be significant enough to affect Early game builds. And given the Healing factor from SV, means that it should be a rush item for Vlad in most case, especially in the AP matchup.

And I think Riot said the nerfs were targeted at the full build. It means that Vlad can't get tons of damage simply by building HP.
