Did he play ranked before? Or did you? it looks at what he was ranked last season. Who you're up against also effects it.

Lets say he got bronze 2, but he playing vs silvers. You got bronze 5, but you were playing against bronze.

I did play last season but placed like bronze 3 or something. He didn't play last season, also we played placements together.

its because you played last season. they said last season would affect your current ranking for this season and placing you at lower elo

I went 0-10 last season and was placed the same.

When it comes to ranked you almost always get placed in a lower elo after your placements.

yeah that exactly the reason why

I have no clue. Are you sure your friend isnt lying about his win-to-loss ratio?

I went 5-5 and got silver III. Thats pretty close to 3-7, and you got 7 ranks below me.

Idk man.

I was in the room when he got his rank after we finished the game together. I have tons of good games and he has a lot of bad games, doesn't make much sense, not too worried just hate climbing out of bronze knowing I am better than that.

If you lose the first games, you get placed against lower MMR opponents for more. Later wins give only a moderate boost to projected MMR. If you win the early games, you are placed against better opponents. If you then lose, your projected MMR doesn't drop very much.

The first few games are the most important.
