Remake is broken

Played ranked a couple of minutes ago and someone left in like the first 5 minutes or so, but since he joined the game remake didn't work. He was still lv 1 and I lost LP once again. I'm seeing things like this too often if it is not me it is someone else. Anyone else having the same struggles? Riot if you see this could you please make a statement on the current state of the, in my opinion, broken remake system?

Mm it's a slippery slope. While on one hand I agree with you, as I think the same as you on this idea, but on the other hand, it could easily be abused. I know I've had matches that I won when someone was late to join a match and I wanted to remake. Again, the issue is, "ugh they gave first blood in two minutes. GG. I'm out" the they d/c and the team does a remake. Now, this isn't the fault of the team, but needless to say that is something that you would see happen.

Because I have never been the person to cause a remake I cannot be for sure if you lose LP for never connecting or if you're forgiven. But, I do believe if they do implement a system like you suggest, said person who causes a remake, must always be punished.

No. Matter. What.

This will ensure people stay, unless, for some reason, they cannot.

I agree with the abuse part because that is probably what will happen, but for the players who want to play ranked and not lose to a 4v5 it is really a pain in the butt. Indeed it is a slippery slope and I would like a countermeasure and I like the remake part but maybe another one would be better.

Riot would rather you get filled into a role you don't play rather than waiting a few extra minutes to get a role you DO play. Why the hell would they allow this and waste a few more minutes and people's time?

This seems rather off topic, could you explain yourself further?

They want to save a few minutes with autofill in low elo. Why would they want to add a few more wasted minutes with remake being at 5 minutes

Yeah, got 'it's too early to remake" also in a game where we had a minute 1 DC. And I'm pretty sure there was an actual dc, because the reconnected thing came up later (when it was already too late because jungle and mid yolo'd expecting a remake)

Losing rp because of a 4v5 sucks, especially if you had the game in the bag otherwise.

Yeah but that is on your jungle and mid to act right and think of the match as a match no matter what. Even when I get stuck as support and my adc is absent I don't bum rush the enemy bot lane thinking we will remake.

What I think should happen for remakes is that if someone is disconnected for more than about 5 minutes, you can do a remake. The person who disconnected will lose TWICE the normal LP, with the rest of the team not losing LP. The "winning" team will split the LP the disconnected person lost. This way there is a hefty penalty for intentionally disconnecting, it doesn't hurt your team, and the "winning" team still gets some reward for time spent.

That's horrible. It's already punished enough for someone who actually did get disconnected. If something actually came up, internet went down, or bug splats. Calling out for double the LP loss is maddening. And the other team shouldn't gain LP for it either. It would cause a horrible rift among players trying to force someone to quit. I normally don't say that but I'm a situation like that I do believe we would see even more trolls.

No, we wouldn't see more trolls. As it is, there are already so many trolls that there is no way it could make it worse. So you are saying that if "something came up" and you have disconnect, your teammates should be punished for the fact that your mom made you go to bed while you were trying to stay up past 9pm to play League? I'd rather punish the person who made the match be a 4v5 than punish his teammates.

And you can't just allow remake for any instance of people disconnecting for an extended period of time without giving the other team SOMETHING for their efforts. You'd lose half the playerbase in the first week.

I remember when people (including myself) kept pushing for a remake opinion and the community basically spat on it claiming it would ruin the game. "People would just use it as an excuses to leave a match they didn't like.." and after so long Riot finally caved in and gave us a perfectly fine remake system. The person who is disconnected does get punished and loses LP. The team that suffered doesn't lose LP and the other team doesn't gain any.

So, how would rewarding the other team be beneficial to anything? How would double punishing the disconnected player be better? You don't know what the reason for the disconnection is, no one does, that's why a simple punishment is all that is needed. And, the system in place already does allow a remake for any disconnect, as long as the player doesn't reconnect within the specified time limit.

The system is fine. Like anything else it has its pros and cons. Nothing is going to be perfect but at least we have an opinion now compared to how it use to be.

If I disconnect mid-game, the game does not allow my team to remake. The remake is only for people who do not connect. I've been in games where someone connected, but then disconnected before minions even spawned, and we still could not remake. Let alone when someone disconnects 10 minutes into the game.

Rewarding the other team would allow you to expand the remake system to include all disconnects for an extended period of time, whether or not it happens initially loading into the game or if it happens 15 minutes in. As it stands right now, there are VERY FEW situations where you can 4v5 and win games. Yes, I'm sure you've done it. I've done it as well. The point is, against even-skilled players, you are going to be able to do it maybe 25% of the time. You are a liar if you try to say you can win every 4v5 game, or even most of them. The point is, it isn't your teammates' fault if you have shit internet or if you have a heartattack or a lightning strike or just had your house destroyed in an earthquake. They don't know why you are disconnected. They don't care. You've just fucked them over in a TEAM GAME. They should not be punished.

On the flip side, you have a team that may have been doing quite well for 15 minutes, then the enemy team ends up doing a /remake and you would get NOTHING out of the 15 minutes you spent. That isn't fair to them either, they get punished for NOT having a player leave.

Right, I understand what you're trying to say and I do agree with you. However, you cannot just opt for a remake opinion half way into a match. The last paragraph describes exactly why you cannot have a 'remake' option through out the entirety of the match.

And, no, I won't sit here telling you that you can majority of 4v5 matchups as it is just way too much pressure. If you lose a support no big deal, right? Unless that support is 75% of your hard CC. Such as a team revolving around a first pick Leona. Or if you lose your jungle, unless your top, mid, and adc are able to maintain proper lane pressure. But, that is all subjective and requires an ungodly amount of teamwork.

Now, my other suggestion would be a in game buff. Depending on who lefts the stats get split up among the team. If, for example, a mid Brand g disconnected, and the jungle has to jump back and forth between mid and jungle, then the stats of brand, per level, should be shared among the team. So, if the jungle in the example is, nocturne, then he gains extra health, armor, attack speed, etc. this in turn goes for the rest of team. All the way up to, either Brand returning, or level 18. This in turn could help even match ups against a 2v1 bot lane. Even if the ADC disconnects, at least the support will have enough in stats to stall the lane to deadlock. This in turn makes it harder to bulldoze a lane and gives enough pressure for a psuedo 5th man.

This, is what I think should happened rather than a remake opinion through out the entirety of the match.
