Open letter to "Riot Games" about the match making system this year.

Dear Riot, Its me... Ahkire \o/

I've never done anything like this, but there is a first time for everything and we can hold each others hands along the way! Lets discuss your match making system that I've experienced this year... I do quite a bit of research on how to improve my overall game play as well as understanding the finer on-goings that happens within and behind the game. With that being said, I came across some interesting information about the match making system that is used. Now granted this is from a Reddit user, but he did send me on the right path of research. To which I have validated most.

https://www.reddit.com/r/summonerschool/comments/3s7fre/an_explanation_of_preseason_mmr_to_head_off_the/

In the post the user describes that your "MMR" is still being calculated after the season ends and still before the new season begins. Which I guess I understand, you don't want people starting over from scratch each year to prove themselves that they deserve the rank they hold (boosters be damned!) But lets think this out a little here, so for the majority of people who play rank. They do it during the season with their friends and for the most part with most people, they have fun doing it and the game continues as normal because they are none the wiser, but then all of a sudden they are getting pitted against players with two tiers on their current rank. So my question is, with all this calculating going on do you think you might have messed something up on a serious level? The point in question here is matching other people of equal skill to you own (I'm gonna use the image below as a reference to what I'm talking about, seeing as how i can't post my own pictures for some reason and this conveys what I'm experiencing).

http://s512.photobucket.com/user/cackerot/media/goldborder_zps5a69a71c.jpg.html (yes I understand that in the picture the gold player could be gold 1, which would put them in with plats and it more than likely propaganda)

*Myself and MANY others are experiencing match making games were (most of us) are in low to high silver (myself being silver 1, now a silver 3.../cry) and being pitted against players of high golds' to low plats'. Now I'm all about playing the game harder, I learn better. But according to the research these other players that are in a higher rank tier, have the same MMR as I do they just somehow got into a higher rank tier than I did, be it with sheer luck, group carrying, or raw skill. Be that as it may! I'm still getting pitted against high ranked players in my ranked games. I kind of think this is partially due because I was helping my friend out who is bronze five and we won six games in a row by a landslide. There after I experienced what you see in the picture above you, but this seems to now be a normal thing now. Most of my games have high golds and a solitary plat player on my team, whereas I'm the only silver and we just Rolf-stomped by the other team who is CLEARLY coordinating attack using other means than the ping/chat system (a letter for another day). Where as some matches are just tough and you have to really work to win them, this is not anywhere near that level. Some players have even reported a 17 game losing streak, associated with the problem above (that beats statistics). To which i say, "IT MAKES NOOOO DAMN SENSE!!!!"

*If you're going to be pitting people against one another and grab players from EVERY rank tier based off of their MMR (IE, silver's vs platinum's, Bronze's vs Gold's) Then why have a tier ranking system in the 1st place??!! One would think the logical and smart thing to do would be to place players within the same tier rank against each other with the same MMR, thus creating a truly fair chance at the ranking system and a better rank experience over-all. Now of course this won't stop the trolls from trollin' hard! But it only makes sense. Now I associated rank with how much you are "getting" league of legends. If people are in a higher tier rank then say someone with bronze and yet has the same MMR, don't you think they belong in the same tier too? Because they haven't increased their MMR to show that they are getting better at the game, they simply have a higher tier rank either because of a booster/carry or by pure stupid luck. If they were learning and becoming skilled, then your MMR would suggest this, yes? Maybe your codes are backwards, your pitting people WITH the same MMR against people of a higher MMR instead of an even trade.

I want to end this stating that I'm a die hard fan, been playing since Malzahar came out (OMG), I probably have $600-1000 in skins alone within the 1st three years, not to mention when i bought the champs because they came with the two skin deal. I also have over 1800 wins on my account (only account, no secondaries) There might be an addiction problem here. So, please don't think I'm just raging or qq'ing about my rank and how I think I should be higher. I love the game, I just think that this aspect is just completely F#&@ed and deserves your serious attention. That's all for today!! Lord Morde knows there will be more letters in the future! See you all on the rift for some carnage!!!!

I have a gold 1 Border, I see Diamond borders almost everygame now. Matchmaking must be unfair.

That pic is from several seasons ago.

Proving that this has been an ongoing issue with no resolve. Thanks for pointing out that the picture is old! I again, was using it for reference.

The borders aren't from S5, for sure. The summoner icons look like S3 or S4?

I realize you were using it as an example, and I agree with your overall point. But if this example was from several seasons ago, then the matchmaking problems aren't anything new.
