The Top-Lane Conundrum

This situation occurs quite frequently when playing top lane and I'm wondering what an effective solution is.

Laning starts off well. I'll be up 2 or 3 kills on my opponent, but then I notice that my ADC and my support are both 0/2/0 or worse. They clearly need help, so I think it must be time for a TP-gank. That tends to go well; we get a kill or two, and maybe a turret or dragon. However, while I'm gone my lane opponent gets my first turret. I return top lane, kill him, and get his turret. But while I do that my bottom lane dies again and loses their turret.

At this point my game turns into this: pick a lane to a have a presence in and lose a turret in the other one. At best it's a break-even situation, but because a) the enemy ADC and support are fed they can push bot faster than I can solo-push top and b) going 3v2 with my underfed bot lane is slower than my opponent can push top because the fights we have are only slightly in my favour.

How do you solve this problem? Sometimes I suggest we group mid, but because the enemy team has more fed people they can go 4v5 mid against us and let my top-lane opponent free-farm to catch up.

TLDR: What do you do when it seems you're needed in multiple lanes simultaneously all game?

I don't know what elo you're in but I know in my elo one of the biggest problems people have is they don't know how to play from behind. They think oh ok I'm 3 kills down my laner and 50 cs. They are half health I got this and die again.

They don't prioritize cs and need the kills to basically even out their deficit. Try giving them some kills and usually they will show they have some sense. Now if they play badly with gold then they just suck and you took a bad gamble. It'll happen unfortunately. But I honestly believe a lot of these people don't suck they just make poor decisions and think they are stronger than they are but given the resources can usually manage a win.

Well when your team is behind this is what I consider the importance ranking of different things to be. not dieing > getting cs > not giving up turrets > getting objectives > getting kills

Obviously telling people to stop dying isn't going to accomplish anything but you can point them at one of the other thinks like "try to get lane x minions to push" (getting cs) "we need to defend this turret". If they are still very kill hungry than group up and roam to try and find a pick.

As long as you can keep them focused on something that is less likely to get them killed the better off you will be.
