Sona's new Ult.

Hey all i was just wondering why did they add this new passive that gives 40% cdr to sona? I mean all support items already grant 40% cdr easily. Now wont it be a waste of gold to build support sona? You'd get like 70% cdr with the new ult... I mean in the late game.

The cdr passive on Sona's ult lowers the base CDs of her spells...it stacks (multiplicatively) with the 40/45% cdr you get from items/runes/masteries giving you a max of 67% cdr. You are not wasting money buying CDR on Sona as long as you don't go over 40% from items.

For a support champion like Sona, having that up to 40 percent per Crescendo level is good but not OP. Riot did reduced her damage output for the Hymn of Valor. So it would just be right to have an increased effectiveness on her heals, shields, and CDR.

CDR is capped at 45 percent except on special events or maps like on URF.

Then again, on the new Sona, she won't be able to carry the team anymore that much. So she needs decent team mates for her to be an effective support champion.

If it wasn't paired with nerfs to q and w (along with the removal of the previous bonuses her ult gave them) and no mana cost reductions, I might be inclined to agree. As it is, her actual strength is a bit... questionable.
