Twitch Pasive Rework

Snaem··18 votes·2,522 views

So as a Twitch main I would love to see a rework of his pasive. Because right now it kinda feels like it does nothing. And there are so many like it (DariusDarius , BrandBrand , FizzFizz (his W) Teemo/SatanTeemo (his W) ShacoShaco (his E) and even more with damage over time stuff. So insteed of giving a stacking posion with his AA it can give a higher crit chanse when attacking that target. This could be a major change to his kit and giving something that actually feels usefull. So this would make him more like the assasin rat that he is making him able to do fast damage insteed of something that will juist be potted away when you kill him. Thanks for taking your time to read this, feel free to discuss the idea in the comment section. Sorry eventual gramatical mistakes and bad structure English isn't my native. Have a gr8 day!Twitch

You could also tie the poison passive to the expunge ability and make his passive something different.

Isn't that just what 11 herb n spices said? lol

Bonipherus1 votes

No. That's what I said.

Okay, so any ideas on a new passive? Cause as someone who actually likes playing Twitch, I kinda agree his passive is lackluster, as OP said and I agree with you on putting it in with his Contaminate and changing said passive.

Bonipherus1 votes

I've been contemplating this for a few minutes now and I've come up with this so let me know your opinion.

New passive: Spray and Pray- Every few seconds twitch will load a piercing bolt in his crossbow to replace his normal one. This bolt hits all enemies it travels through, ignores (x%) armor, and applies on hit effects. Attack speed increases the frequency at which piercing bolts are readied. Twitch can store up to 1/2/3/4 piercing bolts at a time.

His ult will likely need a few adjustments to make it more dynamic and meaningful after this change but that should be fine as his current ultimate is fairly one dimensional. Current thinking is something along the lines of a far more toxic venom during his ult that causes enemy champions to explode and infect nearby enemies with said venom along with the range increase of course.

I came up with this in just a few minutes so it might not be the best but feel free to leave a comment and let me know where you feel I did good or which aspects needs improvements.

Well, definitely better than anything I came up with, but any ideas on the ultimate then?

Disclaimer: Numbers in this proposal are purposefully left out. Numbers for Twitch's damage can all be tweaked in different areas to add or remove power where it is necessary. This post is about solidifying a theme and enhancing the playstyle of a Marksman/Assassin.

First, I'm going to get into a bit of philosophy of assassins and marksmen here so bear with me.

I believe that an assassin is healthiest when nearly the entirety of his or her pure (100-0) assassination potential is tied to their ultimate. Zed can skirmish a bit, poke at you, and go in for a combo but he will not be able to 100-0 you without using his highly telegraphed ultimate. This is important for two reasons: one is because Ultimate abilities are only accessibly at level 6, 11, and 16 and the other is that ultimates have much longer cooldowns in comparison to regular abilities. The combination of these two factors make ultimate abilities more easily trackable by the opposing team for when they need to pay attention to not only to an assassin's power spikes, but also to their periods of vulnerability.

A Marksman's ult can be well defining of who they are but they are built to function by consistently damage opponents primarily through their auto attacks. Marksmen playstyles can and do vary by champion but their ultimates are not there solely to burst down a high priority target.

Because Twitch is a Marksman first and an assassin second I believe his ult should add a noticeable amount of power to his kit but not be an ability he absolutely needs to deal all his damage. Basically, Twitch's ult needs more of an overall emphasis on team fighting than catching out a single target while simultaneously remaining an appropriate aspect towads his success when he decides to sneak up on an unsuspecting mid laner.

I also believe that Twitch's kit lacks a necessary amount of depth and involvement with his poison which leaves many players feeling like he isn't as much of the "Plague Rat" as he could be. To change this I would suggest altering two things; his W and his Ult.

Twitch's W is, right now, both the least interesting and the least necessary part of his kit. His W basically only shortens the amount of total auto attacks you need before you can achieve maximum damage from his E. The ability does also slow targets in the field it hits but because this is the only increased benefit you get after further leveling his W you naturally do not want to level up this skill until all your other abilities have been fully upgraded. I'd propose a change to keep the slow on his W while removing the added 2 poison stacks in exchange for increasing the total poison damage Twitch inflicts upon those who have been hit by his Venom Cask. This should add some decision making to the skill by making players ask themselves the question of: "do I need the slow to keep this tank off of me or can I hold on to it and use it to help quickly take out a more valuable target?" Small side note- because this ability is a skill shot, it should feel pretty rewarding to land and much less so if missed.

Twitch's current ultimate gives bonus range as well as some extra attack damage to make his autos hurt just that much more (they also pierce targets but as shown in my last post I suggested moving this aspect to his passive). One of the problems I see in this ability is that it achieves very little in adding to a theme of a poisonous "Plague Rat" marksman.

Now, we could debate all day as to whether or not the range increase on Twitch's ultimate is actually crucial to Twitch's gameplay and/or if it adds meaningful depth to his character or not so I am going to leave out mention of a range increase in my proposed R ability and leave the questions of Twitch's natural auto attack range vs his temporary auto attack range to someone else.

My proposed Ultimate change for this character is still up in the air a bit but I want, again, to emphasize the poison qualities that twitch has. Before I proposed that, during his ultimate, Twitch will infect opponents with a much stronger version of Deadly Venom. I have not decided yet upon its exact interactions but I still do like the idea where enemy champions killed while infected with this special venom transfer the status effect to nearby units in some way. With this new ultimate you still get a noticeable increase of power through effective use of the ability while preserving a good amount of assassination potential as well as a niche Twitch has had: his killing of an entire team with a well-timed ultimate, auto attacks, passive maintenance, and the burst from his E. You don't want to group up around a Twitch who has his passive stacks ready and especially not when he is killing one of your teammates with his extra deadly venom; that will certainly lead to the destruction of your team.

Extvia1 votes

I kinda lost track of what was going on in all that, but what I got was Twitch getting a stronger poison for his ult, but would he still get extra range/damage on his autos?

Bonipherus1 votes

Here is what I said about that:

I personally think the extra range should stay, he has no real disengage like Jinx's snare, Tristana's W and R, and technically Jayce's hammer swing thing, I dunno what it is, I haven't played him yet, kinda want to tho lol. So the range for a few seconds in a fight or to pick off someone trying to come near you in hopes of killing them before needing to run is useful.

Auz the Ripper2 votes

I kinda want the venom to become more integral to his damage

DoT ADC is a unique niche that's currently empty and that Twitch could easy fill it

Narasimha1 votes

The problem with that is that it's practically a paradox. An ADC wants to do the most damage in the least time, because the longer a fight goes on, the more at risk they become. On the other hand, DoT abilities have low upfront damage, and tend to shine in prolonged fights.

Auz the Ripper1 votes

My thought is that it should be something that twitch can rely on to finish off low health enemies and that would be actually relevent in the long drawn out fights against tanks

Basically make it so Twitch can divert his attention after getting full stacks on a target and be confident that it'll do something significant aside from being contamination fuel

Why not change his passive to something more thematic with his kit and like Boni said move his current passive to his E since I agree it does feel like more of a side note, then a feature like his kit would suggest if you get what I mean.

My idea would be a "Stench" mechanic. Something like this: When Twitch enters/exits Ambush he pollutes the surrounding air gaining bonus poison damage (More damage on what would be his "E"s passive if we keep this theme) as well as more movement speed while the in the zone. The Zone lasts for 5 seconds but can be lowered when enemy champions enter the zone, however upon doing so they gain two stacks of Poison.

I think that works better with the Ambush reset thing and puts more emphasis on him being a placement based carry.

Horse Grenades1 votes

As a Twitch main, I am fine with his passive, but I think a passive like "Feast of Decay" where he heals for all the Deadly Venom damage done to enemy champions.

FantasySniper1 votes

Like Bonipherus' fucking fantastic idea, move his passive to his Expunge.

My idea for his new passive is to give bonus crit damage and attack speed based on level, stacking through his Venom stacks. Would really make him feel like a hypercarry.

Shrek Luigi1 votes

New passive: Twitch gains 1/3/5 hp5 at levels 1/7/14 for each stack of poison applied to each enemy champion or large monster. (The poison tick would be moved over to Expunge.)

Honestly, I think Twitch's biggest concern is his lack of survivability in botlane and the jungle earlier on. The added hp5 would allow him to dip in and out of fights and reward himself for tactical hit-and-run maneuvers with added sustain, while simultaneously helping him a bit in the jungle.

Teemo Pretty Sure poison is on e also he is no where near in a good spot right now either, i feel like the dot play style has been more or less removed over time in favor of burst damage on everyone. look at what used to be leagues signature poison champ Cassiopeia now just a glorified e bot, i dont think riot likes DOTS as a concept.

Danyoja1 votes

I think dots are good for example Malzahar is an okay pick in some match ups. when you think of his E and item 3151 and The Deathtouch Keystone it pretty powerful harass in the early game and if you can force a lot of backs in the early game you can use that advantage to get ahead.

I agree with the fact that when DoT are too strong they usually get nerfed (Teemo Shrooms when oracle went the way of the dodo and item 3151 was just introduced comes to mind) I also agree that there's noone who really focuses on a DoT mechanic or Skills and I think it could be an interesting concept.

Does his passive need a rework? I'd be alright if one of three things happened: his passive did slightly more damage, Expunge gave a partial refund on kills, or Spray and Pray did a little bit more or lasted longer.

BoyManDog331 votes

I had an idea like this awhile ago. As mentioned, you'd move the poison to contaminate. As for the passive:

New Passive- Scurry: After attacking a target with full stacks of contaminate's poison or upon exiting stealth, Twitch gets a quick scuttle away from the target to his max attack range. (think vayne tumble/Kalista dash)

The idea is, in a teamfight, he would get a reposition that would be affected by his ult range/rapidfire cannon. Or, in another scenario, he would ambush an enemy, come behind them stealthed, appear, and proceed to kite them back with the quick scurry.

The passive also offers conterplay, as the scurry can be predictable and essentially places him in the auto range of a ranged enemy as well. The benefit to it either way though is that Twitch is either instigating the fight, and can get out, or already fighting and can kite efficiently.

Extvia1 votes

Yeah but he's a poison based assassin, considering all the toxic shit he loves to throw at people and shoot them with on his arrows, so any ideas to keep with the aesthetic?

Last I checked shaco E didn't apply a DOT.... maybe i'm just stupid [slayer-jinx-catface]

If twitch were to receive a rework I would like to see it buff the assassin side of his kit. They want him to be the Assassin adc (they said so during the adc rework) but his kit is full of DOT and his ult is a multi man massacre. Not very Assassin like. I would added slipperiness, more upfront damage to his kit while sacrifice some of his multi target damage and his DOT.

Assassins usually have a combination of mobility and burst so they get in, kill there target and then get out. Currently twitch has his Ambush to get in and out (if he gets the kill) but one more way to make him slippery would be nice. Passive Corrosive Bolts: after not attacking for 30s Twitch loads his cross bow with a few extra delay bolts. His next 3 auto deal 2x damage or 5x damage if they crit.

Q Ambush: no change Should stay the same is one of his defining charismatics

W Venom Cask: add his His current passive here and have the damage scale with rank in that ability. The poi send autos is supper thematic so putter here allows people to chose between the dot marksman or rat ambush assassin

E Feral Bite: Twitch Twitch leaps to a target in his auto attack range and delvers a fearsome dealing damage and briefly (~.5 seconds) fearing the enemy. (or some other kind of mild cc) Gives him some more more targeted burst as well as a bit more tricky slipperiness (leap to target to avoid skill shots ect)

R Rat-Ta-Tat-Tat: no change This would stay too since I think twitch mains like it. I don't think is very Assassinish but hey he is an adc.

Over all make him a more bursty and take a way some of his multi damage.

I always suggested that:

Twitch was reworked into something more like Kalista in the sense that he could stack his passive infinitely which grew in strength and all forms of self healing was prevented. It makes him strong for the team and himself, better objective control and inspires him to build more attack speed than what I usually see. I usually take him mid lane because I can isolate myself without having to worry about too much interaction and after pushing my lane I can roam to gain strength. From my experience of playing him mid lane, his passive at full stacks is usually out sustained by self regeneration and a single health potion nullifies the effect. Kind of lame tbh

Extvia1 votes

You play Twitch mid? Does it ever go well for you?

AsReelAsItGets1 votes

I main Twitch too and I too think it would be reasonable to buff the passive. Or as you pointed out rework it.

JustCallMeBug

I feel like Kog's doubled AS cap would fit twitch a lot better. "Spray and Pray" firing piercing shots at a high rate in every direction, like an amped up mini gun. maybe his ultimate could become a passive like Jinx mini gun, that ramps up his AS and AS cap. and when at max stacks he gets a range increase?

just brainstorming.

but really the current poison passive feels like it was just tacked on because of the personality twitch has. it doesn't do much except occasionally pick off stragglers. maybe his ultimate gives him more AS/cap per stack of poison, or stacks of poison increase his damage by so much to that target.
