Because they've changed her design. Intentionally.

They wanted her to look more like a fencer. And in terms of costume, the new one looks more rich posh aristocrat fencer than the old one. The hair covering the eye looks better in terms of "sex appeal", but doesn't make sense for who she is: a focused fighter who always pays attention to her opponent's weakspots. Her face needs tweaking on the current splash. Her models need a bit of work. That's about it.

I can also argue that she has her hair in front of the face to purposefully diminish her vision as to give the enemy an advantage as she is, and I quote, "Looking for a worthy opponent"

Yet believes herself to be the best and an artist with a blade, meaning the only way she could get a challenge is if she handicaps herself (kinda like Jax with the lamp)

So yeah in my opinion a pompous prideful girl like this would dress pretty, be pretty and fight pretty

the hair over the face makes her mysterious/imperious. She's supposed to be prideful and a bit arrogant. fighting even with the handicap of vision blocking hair and even looking like she's giving you a handicap while doing it is the point.

The softer features gives her more charm and elegance over the current splash and overall makes her look gorgeous in comparison to her current villainy splash.

Rito, for the love of god, please listen to the community for once.

Don't "put it into consideration," don't "send our regards to the X or Y teams," don't "send it to PBE but never do anything,"

just listen to us for once.

This is not a gameplay balancing issue that requires degrees and experience and testing to make decisions for.

This concerns the art and model of a character that the player is supposed to enjoy and love from a cosmetic perspective.

Neither are the Nielsen ratings but it's called sampling. If the sample size overwhelmingly picks one option then it is likely the majority of the population will also pick that option.

Most people aren't going on the forum to tell Riot how great the splash is. This is the standard they have set that I and most people I know expect, and personally, I like it. But there are people who go on the forum to whinge about the new splash which is TOTALLY fine, but they seriously shouldn't have such a sharp tongue about it. The splash artist makes the thing representing the work everyone's done, publishes the thing "DAng I hope people like the art", they go to check out feedback and BaDA BIng "ugly" "looks like the same thing but less talented" "gross angular face" I wouldn't be surprised if they took a couple days away from the forum for their own sake.

And that kind of constructive and precise criticism you offer is still absolutely rare in the forums. THAT'S the point. Not that the opinions are invalid or that you're not allowed to have an opinion, or even that you should shut up now. Case in point, you of all people maybe should be talking even more, seeing as you are able to express your criticism (even if it is a tad agressive).

But the vast majority of peoples' main argument is still just that it's not the way it used to be, and that's not the least bit constructive. Until the percentage of arguments have dropped below a certain threshold it's difficult for Riot to assess how many people actually dislike it and why they dislike it. Especially because the forums are not a random sample of players, and thus are not a good representation of the playerbase.

I don't particularly care for the lighting color choice, but I could live with it, but I think it needs to be toned down so you can actually see the window's design. I feel as though the gold light rays contrast incredibly poorly with her outfit. Looking at her torso, the lighting is just all over the place. Realistic or not I'm not entirely sure, it still looks very "everywhere"

Hair's also yay and eh. You ever wear your hair like that? It's not comfortable and it doesn't sit right, especially in motion. However I do like the design and coloring of it more than the current.

Face is MUCH better than the current new splash though, by far.

Riot, I pray, I really do pray / wish / desire / want / need that you read my comment, and all the other comments popping up, not even about Fiora's new Kit, which is what we're playing with now, because she will be a true skilled duellist now. The ONLY complaints are from the splash art(s), and the HIDEOUS ingame models... IF you need pointers, here are some put together: -The new splash did remind me of Cruella from Disney for some reason, I wasn't too surprised when I noticed so many other people felt the same. -LOOK at her "old" Royal Guard splash art... Look at her classic splash art. Look at her "old" in game models. THAT'S Fiora... Round faced, charismatic and characteristic eyebrows, "large" jaw, the look in her eyes... Her mouth expressions. This is her evil sister... Did my Fiora get murdered? For example, the "new" Headmistress looks AWFUL, the "old" one just needed to have her neck length toned down a bit. That's all...

What you could do visually was simply, give her a color fixer-upper, and trim some edges here and there. Not throw a box of botox and scizzors at her face. Jesus... The new Kit is LOVELY Riot. But don't kill my freaking main champion by giving her an unnecessary and very aesthetically unpleasing visual (un)update...

I am actually amazed. In my opinion this is 100 times better than the new splash.

A friend and and I were saying that all they needed to do was put her old head on the new splash and make the teal parts of the clothes black to fix it. This is awesome. Now if only the new models weren't bad as well.

What Riot did to Fiora's hair makes sense though.

She's a fencer. She doesn't want her hair covering her eyes during a fight.

Also the filter is unnecessary.

Really the only thing that needed fixing were the hard lines on her face.

Katarina isn't a refined duelist though. She's a merciless dagger spinning flippy floopy assassin.

Riven uses a gigantic sword, so she doesn't really go for accuracy.

Irelia's hair does not cover her eyes.

She needs a bit more curves on her lower body, it seems too twiggy. No way it would look like that with the lean muscle she would have. Edit: May just be the pose with the lighting/shading on second thought.

To be honest I actually like her new design. I like this style of hair and it really doesn't make sense to have it all in her face. I think the angular face fits her character type as well. It's not that big a deal at the end of the day though since you don't really see the faces in game so much.
