A question to those who know more than I

Why hasn't Jhin made his spot in the mid lane? Especially after mid season when it became dominated by mages? Assassins completely shit on him (he's one of the few ADCs left that are heavily susceptible to assassins in general) making taking him mid not a very smart choice in this assassin "pseudo-meta"; he struggles somewhat against shredding tanky champions (compared to all the other ADCs) due to his kit and pretty much every other ADC will be able to out-DPS and thus outduel him eventually. Mages though, Jhin usually has the ability to deal with them solo once they blow their abilities on him and he is somehow still alive (remember always buy MR) due to his AAs and his abilities. He outranges most, and arguably has a stronger level 6 than most mages in the game. With the prevalence of a lot of AP tops, taking him mid wouldn't exactly be detrimental to the damage profile of a comp. Mid is a shorter lane than bot, meaning an easier retreat, and minimized loss of farm. Arguably, this was probably at its highest potential before Yoummuu's and Duskblade got their changes.

I've taken him mid plenty of times in normals, but never in ranked, and I've stopped due to becoming heavily attached to Yasuo, but I still think that he would be greatly effective mid.

Immobile ADC with no reliable cc or way of escaping, he has almost zero waveclear and is really susceptible to all ins and will struggle a lot when he gets pushed in.

Those weaknesses aren't as bad when you have two people like in bot lane and have a chance for outplays with your teammate, but solo it's multiplied by a lot when you're solo.
