I have a cuestion for Riot... Does KDA really describes a player performance?

OK, I just played a game, I asked Ezreal to stop taking care of his KDA if he wanted to win, he got upset, the other team started to trash talk and said "Ezreal is the only reason we havent won yet"

I said "OK, he deals a lot of damage, but if he just keeps running and throwing a Q+W, we cant win, who was right?

"Oh the Ezreal who got 13-0-2"

Im sure that would be everyones answer

"Oh you were a Tank Nautilus that went 4/10/14"

But... how can Riot think that a single data can tell who is good and who is not?

What if I tell you the damage dealt to champions meter was:

AD Ezreal: 32084

Tank Nautilus: 27212

If I tell you, he had 17.5k gold vs 12.9k of me, why is Riot taking Ezreal for a "S"? the Gold to Damage dealt ratio was:

Ezreal 32084/17900=1.79

Nautilus 27212/12900=2.10

Now lets take into account kill participation:

teams ended up: Enemy team:33/27/53 Our team: 27/33/48

Ezreal participated in 15kills, Nautilus in 18 kills

"Oh but you fed"

I know thats the easy answer, but, what if I tell you that I died in team fights or ganked even under turret because the enemy team realized Ezreal just wouldnt move from mid?

Now, being serious, do you think a player like the Ezreal in that match deserved a S just because he didnt died and barely cleaned up (he tended to just kill one of 3 of them while he had 100% HP and they were just on the run and we were chasing, I mean, imagine a 4vs5, I arrive 5s later, we win the trade 3 for 1, Ezreal had full hp, i had about 30% hp, my malphite had about 20% hp, the enemy had: Leona 300HP, Yasuo about 350HP, and Ezreal just had E up, and he used it to "run" from Leona wich was already running from us

Now, the question is KDA is the only stat that should be taken into account for the MMR?

Riot, should I just get a poke champion, take care of my KDA and wait until my scores slowly get my MMR up, and if I get lucky with the team win?

Should I stop trying to help the team to win and just care about my KDA?

Wich way could I climb the ladder faster?

K/D/A tells you how well you're doing at getting kills and not dying. That's it. Neither of those things is necessarily conducive to actually winning games. Key word is "necessarily". Good scores and good play often go together but they don't always go together, especially on certain kinds of champions. High ranged champs naturally have higher KDA's since they are more often than not out of the enemy threat range. Diving melees naturally have lower KDA's because they're constantly in threat range of the entire enemy team, often leading to them dying for the sake of their team. And certain champs are going to have their KDA suffer more in losing games compared to other champs. I've gone 17/0 on Velkoz and lost because there was never a reason for me to die, but our adc was afk so we lost anyway. I've gone 0/15 on Aatrox and won because I did nothing but split push and suicide to start teamfights so my team could clean up. That was objectively the right thing to do even though it made me look like an 0/15 worthless feeder.

usually the important metrics are

CS, deaths per game and winrate

After looking at your stats, you are a pretty good player according to these metrics although you could stand to die less.

looking at that naut game in particular, i'd suggest getting tabi and randuins. Thornmail is horribly gold inefficient on anybody who isn't rammus.
