Riot, when you do get around to updating Wukong's kit, please keep this in mind about his Decoys.

Blue Moon Wolf··19 votes·961 views

If you change how Wukong's decoy works, please remember its a deception tool using a clone first and a stealth mechanic that allows for sneak attacks second. Wukong's decoy has always been about tricking the enemy into thinking that the decoy he drops is him rather then how most stealth mechanics in the game work where they just turn invisible and you have to figure out where they are going. with those mechanics, you KNOW they stealthed. for Wukong, you generally don't know he stealthed until the decoy vanishes.

The new lore mentions that Wukong is using straw decoys and I find it a bit concerning for his kit in the future. I fear it would be easy to make it into a new mechanic where he drops a straw dummy that can work as a very small Wind wall (blocking single target skill shots/ abilities like it can now) that doesn't do any damage in exchange for something like extended invisibility for Wukong or a damage buff.

To me, one of the key themes for Wukong is that he is leagues definitive clone user. Shaco and Leblanc have their clones as well, but Wukong has always been the one who uses multiple clones (although only very briefly as part of his Nimbus Strike). His clones are where he is really able to show off his magical potential and i'd hate to see that get tossed out in favor of a straw dummy that only focuses on the invisibility part of the ability, rather then the idea of him using decoys to throw off the enemy.

When I started this game the clone was always so tricky. Now I swear I can actually see Wukong exit his clone when he cast W so I never fall for it anymore. Most Wukongs I see don't even try to be sneaky with it, instead using it to block abilities or as a mini gap closer. Would love to see the freelo monkey get some much needed love on his clone mechanic.

It tends to be pretty easy to notice after playing for a while (I can pretty much tell every time an enemy Wukong decoys now). There is a trick to do a fake decoy, but even that has a visible tell to let you know if he actually used a decoy or not (when he stops with a fake decoy, he stops much smoother then when he uses a decoy).

The S trick don't even work

Blue Moon Wolf1 votes

I still manage to trick people with it, but yea. It won't truly work as a sure fire tactic unless it mimics him using a decoy perfectly, which it doesn't.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

i say it dosn't work cause the animation isn't smooth when u use W, u haven't seen this cause u play him, and don't play against. But if u look at wu, its easy to spot, if u are focus.

Maybe I haven't played much WuKong... but I feel like I always know when he uses his clone. Granted I am low ELO and it predictable to run away with it.

Blue Moon Wolf3 votes

I know higher ELOs use it for more stuff such as dropping the decoy in the bush to do a surprise attack. That's part of the reason I posted this. Don't know how common it is, but I know more skilled players will use it like that as well and I'm worried Riot would focus on that more then the decoy aspect of it.

Everyone commenting on how easy it is that notice his clone and I'm still punching the copy.

Make it controllable with W click so it's not super obvious when he uses it

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

control it for... 1,5 sec

is it a joke ? its so easy to spot.

His clones are where he is really able to show off his magical potential

in his lore he use fumigene now... it tilted me so hard when i read this

To be honest I was pretty much just beating around the bush there (don't know how it affects people who don't play/see him often). I was thinking I may have just gotten used to knowing what to look for when he decoys, but if I were to give my honest opinion its really easy to notice. Like I can pretty much guess exactly when he decoys and when he doesn't. on top of that since the change to stealth, one skill shot/ AOE ability/ stray caster minion shot will reveal you and make the whole ruin the whole point of the decoy.

in his lore he use fumigene now... it tilted me so hard when i read this

I was too, but I'm kind of hoping it may play a bigger role later when they add more lore stuff for him. Something like he learns how to make magical clones and clouds through practicing Wuju style and that those techniques were abilities his tribe had forgotten about over time due to their pacifism. But it's still concerning and will be until Riot reveals more.

A decoy is indistinguishable from a Wukong who hits S.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku2 votes

Its easy to spot. U just didn't take time to observe it. When Wukong use his decoy, the animation isn't smooth ( i lack of vocabular to explain it). Thats why higher monkey use bush to fake it, cause its too easly spotted.

As someone who views Wu as really annoying to face. On his decoy, make his duration really short.Like really short.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku4 votes

His duration is already short, like short as f*ck

Raven Redeemed2 votes

1.5 seconds is not that short for true stealth. It's 0.25 seconds longer than one of Kah's ult charges. 1 second shorter than Talon's ult. Also, Wu's stealh is a basic ability which means he will have it earlier in the game and it has 82% shorter cooldown than Talon's and Kha's stealth.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku3 votes

Talon gain ms when invisible, and his whole duration is 2,5. Kha duration is 1,5 and can be cast twice... without forgetting his evolve. Ah & grant ms too.

without forgetting their mobility. u are wrong.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

Talon-s stealth is on his ultimate tho

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

And ? im not the one starting the comparison.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

Just pointed it out.Chill

You are certainly entitled to that opinion. But I don't think describing the benefits of the other stealth abilities will prove your point. I can do the same thing: Wu's stealth can be used at any point in the game (not just post-6). It creates a clone that can be used to fool enemies into wasting their attacks/move in the wrong direction, block skill shots such as Cait's ult, deal aoe damage, can provide 12 seconds of stealth in the time it takes Talon's 2.5 sec or Kha's 3 sec ults to come off cd.

What actually matters is how the stealth is used with the rest of the kit. Wu's kit can be frustrating to face because his damage leaves very little counter play, which is made more annoying by the fact that he can at the very least avoid a ton of damage with his stealth, if not completely fool the enemy while engaging or escaping. I think Riot has to hold him back due to the lack of counter play and the combination of long-ish stealth and his aoe/hard-CC ult. Having powerful assassin stealth/dash combined with a powerful vanguard ability is toxic to the rest of his kit/stats.

That's my take anyway. Good catch on the Kha stealth duration btw. I forgot they buffed it.

My point, to begin, was his invisibilty thing is short. And when i say this, i take in account his flash, other flash + other blick, dash, jump...

yeah u can, but u don't need, i otp Wu in ranked, and have plenty time on talon.

yeah, mainly when u play a squishy. But :

  • Wu laning phase is weak, against most of top laner (thats why he's not played, unless by otp).
  • can easly get shut down
  • U don't have many option, his gameplay is binary.
  • either u are able to OS with him and gg, either u can't and u are close of useless.

His kit is totaly oudated, need a big VU.

Having powerful assassin stealth/dash combined with a powerful vanguard ability is toxic to the rest of his kit/stats.

a simple divers.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

So?

He freaking gains true stealth and MS on it,not to mention he can use it to block abilities with it.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku2 votes

ms ??? Wukong. Nice joke.

Salson1 votes

His passive is bad, like really bad. It's mostly used as something that's just there, not a part of his kit that has to be utilized.

On clone I wish it had a 'fear factor' that fioras W has, but that might push it into a completely different ability.

And pls no hard CC except for his Ult. Though some sort of Cripple in PQWE could be cool.

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

His whole kit is bad.

And pls no hard CC except for his Ult.

Yeah, Wukong don't need more cc, just keep him as bursty divers.
