Building Bruiser Braum

Hey everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to pose a question for you guys to see if people who are much more experienced than I had some thoughts on this idea I had about a Bruiser Braum. This came from a game where my ADC disconnected, and never came back, so I built my Braum a little differently to support my team better, do more damage, and participate more in team fights with a bit more impact, but a friend of mine disagrees that it is not a consistently viable solution (in a normal game). So, I bring the question to you.

Do you feel that if you were a Braum support, and wanted to add a little more impact into your team fighting capabilities, to sub out a few typical tank/support items to be a bit more like a bruiser. You still build an Eye of the Equinox (for the vision) and boots, and even a locket and Redemption, because you don't want to be without some utility for your team, but I also will sometimes take Black Cleaver (AD, Health, Armor Reduction) and/or Titanic Hydra. You still get the health (which is great for his Q), get some AD/AOE (for fights, wave clear, etc.) even though you lose a bit of raw tankiness. You could also supplement Maw if that was relevant.

To me, Braum and Renekton are similar in playstyles (CC, tankiness, engage) and while they couldn't be used interchangeably, I definitely used Renekton's typical builds to supplement this build.

This is an open discussion, and no right or wrong answers. I just want to shoot the breeze with some off meta chat and see what you guys think. Thanks!

Actually gonna say something... Braum is better as a support, if you wanna do damage go a mage

While I have some gripes about the general support utility thing (I'd personally never take Redemption on a tank unless it was something like Taric), I can at least say that, if the game's going your way, you're basically free to build whatever you feel would be most impactful.

If that means shattering defences and slapping away health bars with Black Cleaver and Titanic Hydra, go for it. Just, be aware that later-game you might need to opt out of them and into something else if they aren't persistently impactful.

Also, props to you for ingenuity when your ADC disconnected and left you on the back foot.

Braum Jungle was a nightmare when Sated Devourer existed. Phantom hit applied passive.
