Why do level six and seven mastery require blue essence?

I'm so confused as to why level six and seven mastery require blue essence. It doesn't make sense to me how the amount of blue essence I get based on random key drops and random loot from chests is supposed to represent my mastery with certain champions. I feel like mastery was a really cool feature added to league of legends to show personal skill in certain champions and to show the pride you have in mastery of that champion. When I heard that level six and seven mastery I was even more excited. Another opportunity to show that you are on top of your game and show pride and love for the champions you play the most! I liked the idea of needing S- or above to hit level six and S or above for level seven I feel like it gives it an actual skill cap rather than just playing a champion over and over again. What I'm confused about is why blue essence is a part of that equation. I have been sitting on two level six tokens with my girl Morgana now and have played multiple games where I've gotten S+ and I don't know why the random and seldom key drops that open chests that don't even give blue essence every time. I just don't think blue essence has anything to do with ones mastery of a champion.

Save up some IP and buy champ shards, they'll give you the blue. Also you get blue essence by essentially playing the game since you'll get drops, so it further shows your experience. Or you could juts buy a shit ton of chests so Riot can have a few more pennies.

I just don't understand why having IP is an indicator of skill. I know kids who paid actual money to buy all the champions and now they have ridiculous amounts of IP so they can buy those shards like it's nothing. But them having more IP than me isn't an indicator that they're better at certain champions than I.

Well they would be better at the game in general since they have IP which means they have won more games.

Well not necessarily because you can use IP for champions or champion shards to get blue essence. Those who use RP to buy champions have quicker access to making an IP sink, so it seems like $=mastery which it doesn't.

it means you've dedicated time and resources into the game and process. Its not like getting blue dust is at all difficult. Mastery is not just about the champion you play but also about the game in which they exist.

You still have to get S or S+ ranking to get the Mastery 6 or 7 tokens, it's not just IP. In total you have to get 5 games with S or higher - you can't do that without at least some skill.

so you buy boxes so riot gets more money because the greed train never feeds its hunger.

You can pay 1700 ip to get a random champion shard from the shop

I know but that's like saying the amount of IP you can collect is related to the skill at which you play certain champions. I just don't understand the correlation of blue essence to champion mastery

It means you must master the game itself to get a single champion past a certain level. Except that its still a bit easy right now.

Its more about gating the unwilling than testing skill. Are you willing to spend that to get that? Do you have the skill to get the tokens in the first place?

Yes, some people pay to advance, good for them. theyre just another type of boosted animal. You can get level 7 easily by the way, just go smurf with level 1 accounts... Your masteries have no real meaning. Its just a collectable, like a treasure hunt.
