SION VS CHOGATH TOP

I main chogath and ive recently been playing a lot of sions in top. I dont really have too much matchup experience and have been getting destroyed early game. Can someone help me?

Sion is pretty fucking absurd right now, even without the bug that makes his E undodgeable. So you're fighting an uphill battle as far as lane is concerned right now. Honestly I would take earlygame-focused runes and just play safe. Its not like you really need help being tanky lategame, and you should be just as if not more relevant than him come lategame. Since you should be focused on surviving lane, save your W to use to interrupt his Q channel. Most of his early damage comes from E and W though, and they deal magic resist, so Merc Treads should be a good early purchase.

Who're you tryna counter?

For Sion against Cho, you should try whittling his health down with your E a bunch of times, and if you manage to dodge his Q, start charging your W for the three seconds before going in to use the burst on him

For Cho against Sion, you'll need to go extra aggressive to avoid too many of his pokes; save your abilities for when he charges his Q, for Cho's Q and W both stop Sion's charging long enough for you to land a full combo on him

In general, Sion should win the matchup if he's smart, because he deals some good damage based on %Enemy max health

but as a M7 Sion main, he's better in the jungle, because a full clear gives 108 max health, and getting to gank multiple lanes successfully will give you a whole lot more health on top of it

Sion is at his strongest in the early game, while Cho'Gath is a late game carry. It's simply a bad match-up, at least at the start of the game.

Some late game top laners might be able to survive Sion at the start, but you would have to know how to dodge the skill shots and have the required sustain. Since Cho is a tank foremost, he might just not be a good matchup.
