Why do I lose lp for an afk?

How is this still a thing in 2016?? There is no justifiable reason a ranked game counts against you when someone either afks or never even connects (which just happened to me and is why I created this discussion). This is a much bigger problem than dynamic que ever was or will be, yet that's all the board wants to talk about.

I'd like a red response to this because it's honestly ridiculous that this hasn't been fixed or addressed at this point in the games life.

Riot believes if you didn't lose LP for someone who is afk/dc'd from the start, anytime someone saw a good player on the other team, they would do this to avoid the issue. There have been many ideas proposed, none in-acted. In general, I suppose, you win some and you lose some. It's annoying a match is out of your control, but how many times have you won because of this?

Without knowing any stats as Riot doesn't release any, I presume their belief is it washes out.
