ranked Silver 5 secret to winning/understanding match making, help please!!

So im a little confused about elo, and how matchmaking works. For example I just won a game 13/0/5 , or something like that .It felt very, very easy and at this point any person would think " wow silver 5 is very easy, ranking up shouldn't be too hard." But i definitley have had some games that feel unwinnable. The last 10 games or so to be honest were very stressful and players argued and afk'd. Im also the type of person who stops having fun at this point and ill kinda zone out and just sit top and farm. If i lose games in a row for whatever reason ( getting out played, afks, whatever) do i get matched with people that also currently lost? It kind of feels that way. Because when im winning games the champ select conversations are very positive. People communicate and have a game plan. When im on a losing streak the champ select is terrible. It will immediatly be negative and it carries all game. This makes winning harder for me. Im not sure if i need to take a break, or try not to be so upset about losses or trolls. Its just i love the game at its core, but i donno something about it feels strange like im missing something. Maybe if i understood the matchmaking more i would less stressed out. Any help is much appreciated

There's not much to understand. Play your best, grind out as many games as you can but don't play when tilted. My rule is three losses in a row and I'm done with ranked for the day unless I win four normals in a row. Literally just keep playing and trying to improve and you'll be at least plat in no time.

Edit, cuz I misread a tiny bit: That negativity is just silver in general. Ignore em and do your best

Don't play if you're tilted. Don't queue a game if you know you won't be emotionally stable that game.

Silvers is a hit or miss. You either find a hidden gem or the biggest special needs person every game. Way too much RNG. You can't carry yourself out of silver. You can only hope to get lucky and get a win streak large enough to place you into gold.

So unless im 3 levels ahead of my current elo its a coin toss? Meh thats enough to make me uninterested. I like games, sports that are more rewarding if you do well. I know there is a lot to learn and i could be a waay better player.. it just seems the rewards for doing well, and the punishment for losing seem a little off balance. And thats enough to make me not enjoy the experiance. Anyways thanks for the help

This game would be better if it was more consistent. High Diamond is better not because the players are better, but you consistently meet the same players over and over again. Meanwhile in low elo, every new game is RNG teams and once you softcap your mmr the system will put you in favor of losing when you rise above your softcap and in favor of winning when you go below your softcap. The only way to get out is if you can single handedly carry games OR get lucky enough for a massive win streak to change your soft cap.

" If i lose games in a row for whatever reason ( getting out played, afks, whatever) do i get matched with people that also currently lost? " No, you do not get matched with "loss designated" players or players who are on loss streaks or anything like that.

" Maybe if i understood the matchmaking more i would less stressed out. Any help is much appreciated" It's pretty simple foundationally. You get matched into games with players who win against them same sets of people and lose against the same people. If you win or lose consistently that rating changes and you are matched accordingly.

Disagree. I have 70 games on a new rank account and it's gold. I also have hundreds of games on my main silver account. I am certain that I'm unable to climb out of silver if I play on my silver account simply because of match making. Also, by your logic, my gold account should have dropped to low silver as well because match making doesn't create biased games.

match making has a hidden system that determines your skill based on the skill of the opponents you win or lose to.

silver is the entry point. new players start with 1200 ish skill points. during their placements they can lose or gain points. this affects where they are placed.

silver players can play with players from lower gold and all of bronze.

it is possible to play against opponents that have been on losing streaks with their skill points shot and still lose. if you lose against them your skill points will tank a bit. when this happens you can sometimes play with the less talented individuals of a series. it is also possible to play against players who are extremely talented and are just having a bad day or are duoing with their friend who's new to ranked. typically if you beat them you get a pretty big boost to your points.

the higher or lower your points the more it affects how many league points you get towards your total progression to start a series.

the more games youve played the less likely your stats will change.

that means that there are bronze players who have old accounts that are technically more skilled than new silver players. but because of how the points systems work it's a grind to get anywhere.

your ranked win/loss is also somewhat affects your gains. if you're typically losing games when you finally win you get less boosts than if you were to be constantly winning. and vice versa if you lose a game after constantly winning you wont be punished as much.

once you get past a certain cut off for new players the gameplay experience should improve.

thanks for late response. Been grinding. got back on a win streak winning and in trials. Very strange. I dont feel like im doing much differant but im winning games.. But i do notice that my teammates seem a lot more focused and have more common sense then when i was on a losing streak. But i do think i understand a little of what you saying. So losing games in a row can make you play with less talented individuals. This can be fustrating when this happens and you are still in the same division!

But again as of right now i feel pretty good about my mmr. I literally havent had a afk/rager in like 10 games... I won 8/10 of those so im not sure if thats luck, or im getting placed with better players the more i win. This just has stress written all over it

when you enter a new division you may bounce back and forth simply because of how you'll be in a higher division with possibly a lower skill rating. after you bounce up then down then up then down you'll eventually have a higher rating and start getting put in better games. it truly is a grind.

Silver is such a chaotic mess. New player get S3 and make a down hill waterfall of bad games pulling down anyone that played from last season and was silver (because they get placed into Bronze or S3-5. Then there are the lucky or boosted new players that get to Silver 1-2 or even Gold 5 and they ruin any game they are in solo.

THEN there are the smurfs and if you are better then the average Silver you are always placed on the other team of the Smurf WITH the new Silver players.

IF you can climb out of Silver to Gold you have a very good chance of getting a losing streak and falling back to Silver because Riot hates you.
