Morg's Q has counterplay - but what about her E?

I notice a lot more people complain about her Q and think that is a little strange. I realize it has a huge hitbox, does a big chunk of damage and lasts as long as the Titanic movie, but it can still be dodged/QSS'd/Cleansed/Mikael'd. It's slow.

What do you do against her shield? You hope to break through a shield that has large base values and a very good AP scaling ratio. It's a level 1 95 base shield for Chrissake. The AP ratio is 0.7 so it scales well into the late game. Somebody is going to point out that it only prevents magic damage, but sometimes that is an advantage because if you want to apply CC at all within that 5 second period, you will be forced to dish out enough magic damage to break it (spoiler: you won't)

You planned out a great initiate, landed all your CC and are prepared to slaughter the enemy carry? Too bad, Morgana point and clicked and her Kog trots his way out of the fight.

So somebody explain to me why her shield isn't the main rage-inducing fact about her kit

They could probably reduce the duration on Morgana E. They did that with Sivir E and it felt more fair.

That said, there is counterplay to Morgana E. If you want to CC an E'd target, you just pop the shield with a damage spell, then apply the CC. Also, its fairly long cooldown means that there are periods of strength and weakness for Morgana in lane that you can exploit. Last up, it's quite possible to target switch Morgana -- convince her to apply E to the carry, then you can kill her without worry about her blocking your CC.

And then every AD champ in the game with "Pop her shield? How, exactly?"

And every mage in the game went "But my magic damage abilities are also my CC abilities, how am I supposed to cast them twice?"

The problem with Morgana's Shield is that it's countered by the very thing it's designed to protect against: Magic Damage. The big strength of the shield is the CC immunity. The 5 seconds of CC immunity that no AD champ can break. It's honestly a ludicrous design.

The best counter play is to bait out the shield then attempt to engage because it's on a fairly high cool down. However, that's much easier said then done.

I'm sure Riot is taking a serious look at Morgana, she's one of the only top-tier supports that hasn't taken a hit recently!
