Why did I get put into such a low division after placements?

So I just finished my placement matches for Season 6 and I feel rather frustrated with the division I was put in. Prior to the placements I was in Gold 2 but after completing my placements and going 7-3 I was then put in Silver 3. I am confused because as I talk to my friends, I hear more and more stories about people who were lower than Gold 2 and who won less of their placements than I did, but still got placed in higher divisions than me. Has there been a mistake or glitch? Or am I just unlucky? Is there any point sending an email to Riot (which I've done before and never gotten a response)? Anyways, I wish everyone else the best of lick in their placements and hopefully you guys will have better fortune than me!

As said on every other thread made, you get placed about one tier down from where you were (ex. i was g5 i got s5). I don't know why people think this is some new crazy thing.
