The new Gangplank needs... something. But Idk what. Maybe i nee

Why is the new Gangplank so frustrating? I understand he now requires good positioning to get his Powder Kegs off well, They are nearly impossible to hit in lane because enemies can just walk out of the radius. I agree that is is very rewarding when they hit, and it requires good placement and timing, but so much can go wrong in the time I'm running, and focusing on my barrels and not my team and my placement as a player. But, it's less about the powder kegs and more about how weak gangplank feels. I feel 100% reliant on my kegs, because that's where ALL my power is, if i miss the chain, I have to wait for more, and my Q is weak and i can AA once with the new passive, but that would out be in danger. Gangplank isn't an auto attacker, he is barely a AD caster, he is 100% reliant on his Kegs and if he misses then there's nothing for him to do. Say i do hit my barrels, it's usually amazing. But i think it is WAY too difficult at the moment. Maybe lower the cool down on multiple barrels? Or make is easier for GP to hit them? it is so easy for champs to disarm GPs Kegs, almost too easy. Maybe make the range bigger on the blast radius? Idk, but something needs to be done.I love the new Keg mechanic, i really do. But i am really unsatisfied with his placement at the moment, he needs something done to make him stronger but idk what it is. Better base stats? easier time with Kegs? I'm leaning towards a keg improvement, but outside of kegs GP is just weak. I feel useless building tank or offtank and if i build DMG i am too squishy to do anything if i miss a keg. Welp. Please help us GP lovers.Gangplank

He is definitely an odd one right now. I don't personally play GP, but I've played against him recently enough to agree with you.

I typically pick Garen into him, and while I get poked all day by GP's Q he can't really do anything about me being in lane. His move speed bonuses and barrel slows also make it so I can't really do anything about him. It just becomes a farming lane, not by choice, but because it's impossible for either person to do anything about the other.

Old GP would have easily pushed me out of lane if I didn't get a few early kills on him, and I could have gotten a few early kills if he played poorly. This new GP, however, I just don't understand. Maybe it's a bad matchup, but until someone figures out a new way of playing him I just don't know.

Bushes are your friend with powder kegs. Place your detonator in bushes and then chain off it. Also just hang out in bushes and dare them to follow you in. You can get people with kegs easily that way. Yeah they can ward, but if they are warding the top bushes they aren't likely to be warding the bushes from which ganks will come. So win win.

I'm not sure I'm often always in the top 1st or 2nd damage categories while building 3-4 defensive items and only having a trinity + infinity edge.

I think people just need to get better at him. I still see people trying to play him like the old gp as a duelist early game all in even though his passive has a cooldown and isn't a permaslow when hes changed into a skirmisher and zone control laner that picks his moments to make favorable trades/poke timing with his passive procs with eventual all ins from being melted down over time.

As for the garen comment above me that is because while garen is a tank he has a steroid that isn't just armor its -20% damage so kegs are less effective if the garen is actually paying attention. GP's match up against tanks is a lot better overall, other than maokai who gains so much passive stacks from your q farm and kegs no real way to kill him.
