LOL Needs a Progressive Bans System (Why I'm leaving LOL after 6 seasons)
I've played League of Legends since season 1. I've reached as high as Diamond. I've enjoyed the game immensely, unlocked all the characters, and bought my fair share of skins. I've had a great time and sincerely thank the developers for the fun they've given me.
That said, I've been away from LoL a few months focusing on a few other games and real life. I came back this past week to jump back into LoL. But I can't. And it's for one simple reason: leavers. I can take the toxic players in chat (mute them), the frustrating losses (part of any game), but I can't take the far-too-common occurrence of players who leave ranked games. It's virtually an automatic loss, it counts against your ranked record, and it wastes your time.
After six seasons, it is simply inexcusable that Riot has not setup a system where a game can be ended before the 20:00 minute mark if someone ragequits during the first twenty minutes. Nine people should not have to wait around for that amount of time because one immature person left the game. A vote system could be adopted, where it requires the unanimous vote of the remaining players. Something.
It is also completely inexcusable after six seasons that players who ragequit and leave are still allowed to play in ranked games. There should be progressively long bans. And it should be a zero tolerance policy. Ragequit and leave one game? You're banned from ranked play for an hour. Ragequit and leave again? You're banned from ranked play for 12 hours. Again? A day? Again? A week. etc. etc.
I don't particularly care if they're allowed to still play normals, though if that bothers people who primarily play normals, I understand that too. The point is Ranked Play should be protected. But it's not.
Until this game respects my time and efforts, I'm just not going to play it or spend my money on it any more.
Thank you and sorry if this comes off as sour grapes.
