Quality of life request for Karthus

I recently took up Karthus, and I've been frustrated for one reason. When casting your Q, it's difficult to determine what the range is on the fly. I struggle to avoid poke and/or avoid dives, thinking I'm going to cast earlier than I actually do. If you hover your mouse over the spell it shows the range, but when actually casting it, it does not.

I'm sure seasoned vets have gotten used to their range, but it would really help new players adjust to Karthus.
