Why is Only 20% of The Champions Viable to Play Competitively?

I'v been playing this game since season 3 and something that has bothered the crap out of me is how I can only play what riot tells me I should play. Why can't riot just balance a game. Just stop pumping out champion after champion in order to get more money and fix the champions that are already out.

Because no matter what you do, 1 champ is going to be mathematically superior when compared to other champs of a similar style.

The honest answer: Because it's incredibly difficult to balance 100+ champions with a changing meta and a ton of items on top of it.

You're gold, anything is viable. Professional level will always have a selec few viable options in any game. Something is ALWAYS the best.

But that would defeat the whole point of the game. If Riot wanted people to actually have fun, they would make everything free, from skins to champs to runes. You seem to be disillusioned to the whole reason League of Legends exists in the first place. There's a reason that it takes a ridiculous amount of time to grind out things like champs and runes, and its the same reason that it takes an absurd amount of money to buy these things instantly. The balance team only exists in the first place to make people stay and buy more stuff instead of going to another game once they realize this fact.
