Can Thresh's box please be a different color for the enemy team?

MakingAllDaPlays··188 votes·4,484 views

There's been so many times where I've (sort of subconsciously) walked into through an enemy thresh box, not thinking it would harm me. Honestly, the color is a super light green. It's so light it's almost transparent. This isn't QQ about Thresh, but if there could be some indicator to differentiate between enemy thresh boxes and ally thresh boxes, I think that would definitely be a big improvement.

Why is he being down voted? It's a perfectly reasonable request.

Probably trolls lol

Probably because most people know if they have a thresh on their team or not

OP might be talking about blind or teambuilder.

Oh you're right. Forgot they even existed tbh xD

Fun fact, korean tournaments that go to the 5th game do the last one in blind picks. (Maybe with homemade bans, but I don,t think so).

I personally find that pretty interesting to watch when every OP champs are used. If only because it's a change of pace.

I love this about the Korean league. It is cool to see the matchups and amazing team comps.

so i guess that means that if you play anything but ranked you are boned... you do know that you can have mirror matches in non-ranked games right?

I always find myself walking around friendly thresh boxes.

It feels like a superstition at this point but I don't even mean to. I think the color change is warranted.

PoisonedPeace1 votes

I do this more than I walk into boxes as enemy.

I would like to see more of this kind of clarity on many abilities in addition to just thresh's box. Especially when observing games, things like sweepers, or scying trinket, where it is hard to see which team used the ability. A couple other abilities that cause confusion for me when in blind pick are: veigars cage, anivia ult, karthus wall; i'm sure there are more. but to at least have an option to turn on 'team ability' colouring would be pretty cool.

Caitlin gets diff coloured cup cakes depending on team, why not make all abilities as easily distinguishable? It definatly falls in line with Riots latest 'Clarity' motif.

All of Karthus's abilities have red indicators already and are quite noticeable.

Maybe like a purple color since thresh already has the blood moon skin which makes the walls red.

PickleBabah2 votes

Especially if you have a Bloodmoon Thresh on your side and a Classic Thresh on their side, in the heat of battle you tend to feel like avoiding the wrong one because almost everything else in the game is color-coded.

no reason not to have this, especially in colorblind mode

Agreeing with this. Though it's never happened to me, I can see the problem especially in Team Builder/Blind when both teams have a Thresh, more-so if both ult at the same time and you didn't see, causing you to walk through the enemy box and potentially dying due to it.

And to those who don't agree, think about this; Enemy Thresh ults and you think it's your Thresh's ult since the green dot is grey, only to die when walking through it. Is it worth giving an enemy Thresh(adc or support) a kill? No. Never is and never will be.

Have you tried draft? I have not yet run into that problem in that game mode...

While you had a good point, saying stupid things like that is just going to detract from it.

awkward moment when you delete post instead of replying...idk what I did welp

I only wanted to make it clear that I wasn't only talking about in normals where there happens to be a Thresh on each team. Even if there is only a single Thresh, the light green colors are easy to confuse with a friendly ability regardless.

lxlLilybellelxl2 votes

or friendly bloodmoon thresh and a red box :I

Xaihady1 votes

I can see that. In the heat of the moment, while focusing hard on something else, I guess your brain sometimes processes the colors as being color-coded 'friendly'. Forgetting that there's no Thresh on your team, your mindset maybe reverting for a moment back to a previous game where there was. It's silly and stupid in retrospect, and probably to the other people on your team, but the human mind is fallible.

I like the idea. Maybe differently colored pillars?

Maybe you should just look at the Thresh who used the ultimate

I like the thought of it...but it would ruin some skins, for example, Championship/Blood Moon. The only way they can change the boxes is by color, which removes the quality of the skin imo. They would not go as far as adding extra textures to let you know if Thresh is your ally or not. Not going to bash or anything, but you should really know if your thresh put his box down or enemy thresh; they have features that let you know if its allies or not :/ However, its a change that won't hurt anyone except those with skins.

QueenAqua1 votes

They do have color differences, they are just VERY slight. So slight you can barely see them. I hope Riot will just make the color difference a bit more significant.

The color change would be great, but how would it work with his skins since they change the box color too?

i think blood moon thresh throws me off the most when i see a red box i think red = enemy and hesitate or get jumbled for a second

Isn't there a similar issue with Veigar's stun-cage?

Lemons221 votes

I agree...when playing norms it's not uncommon have games where two Threshs are present, as he is very popular. I've done the same thing tbh. It would be a good change.
