Does anyone else ONLY enjoy the game when smurfing in low Elo?

Once I climbed to diamond, the game seemed to have no point anymore. I was never going to get to challenger or become a pro, and the game wasn't really enjoyable anymore. When your rank stagnates and you're stuck winning half your games against players equally as talented as you, the grind takes its toll. The margin for error is crazy small, and when you mess up, more often than not you get flamed.

When I intentionally deranked a fresh account to bronze 5, I was having the time of my life. I could play whatever I want and stomp hard. Crittlesticks, attack speed singed, whatever. It feels great. For the rare times I wanted to play my main champs, I'd go 20/0 or something similar. I never got flamed, rather I'd get a ton of compliments and honors. Even accounting for the fact that I'd have to intentionally throw a game for every game I won to keep my account from ranking up, I was having a lot more fun than I did on my main.

And fun, really, is what playing League is all about. For me fun came from 3 sources: achieving a high rank, winning, and experimenting with crazy ideas. The latter two factors weren't too abundant in high Elo, but bountiful in bronze. My singular focus on rank, looking back, wasn't too healthy. Why play this game if I wans't enjoying it?

I used to look down on Nightblue for smurfing all day, but now I really see his point. It's crazy fun. Winning a lot is fun. Having a ridiculous kill count is fun. Talking with your friends about crazy plays you made that wouldn't have been feasible at higher Elos is fun. Don't get me wrong, playing in challenger can be fun too, no doubt, but it's definitely at the expense of other factors that add enjoyment to the game. You're not going to win nearly as much and be nearly as fed as you would at a lower Elo.

To anyone jaded by the monotony and grind of climbing the ladder, give smurfing in low Elo a try! If I didn't enjoy it so much I wouldn't have made this post. My mental state is up, my blood pressure is down, and overall I'm in a better mood and have so much more fun playing this game.

Low elo feels like playing with bots and playing against bots. I can already do that in Co op VS Ai

and then sometimes your bots int and it's not fun. sometimes your dudes play worst than bots, and its not fun.

If you like killing players who have little to no skill for hours at a time, do your thang.

Getting to Masters is possible for people who aren't pros. Getting to Challenger is possible for people who aren't pros. pros were you before they were pro

They don't really play like bots. But that's kind of besides the point.

Knowing that I'm playing against real people with real LP on the line makes the game so much more exciting. When I'm crushing them often they'll complain in all chat and want someone of their team reported. It's hilarious, in a guilty pleasure kind of way.

I rather have harder enemies than trash team-mates. I don't know why people are complaining about wanting to get better by facing harder people. If you want fun, play normals. Ranked isn't for fun.

In ranked it's a lot more serious, and that's part of what makes it fun. It's fun to know that your opponents are trying their hearts out to win, yet you still destroyed them.

In ranked I can choose to stay in bronze 5 by throwing games when I get close to promotion. In normals there's no such thing since there's no visible rank.

TL;DR if you can only have fun by mercilessly stomping people who have no idea what they're doing, that's when it becomes not a game anymore. If you're matched against people at your level and facing challenges, that's what makes it a game.

It's still a game, just against weaker competition. And regardless of how you define it, most players play League to have fun. Winning in crazy fun.

only thing fun about smurfing low elo, is i can make the game go to like 40-50 mins and have full build and just have fun playing my champion at max str. ofc i still lose games when 30-2 cause i get caught or fuck around to much. but most time my team just throws the lead in higher elo anyways lol. low elo is the only time i can really get to full build an have fun. sandbox mode pls =[.

I feel you man. Sometimes I'd lose anyway when I go for my 2k stack nasus build in bronze. Feels awful to be item capped 700 stacks in. Really wish Rito would let this game have more item slots.

I feel you OP, I do this too. Crit teemo and hiding until someone walks over you and then one-shotting them is something you just can't do in diamond.

I can't. In normal games I still play with Diamonds, and sometimes with Master tier and Challenger players, but its chill since they're cooling off from ranked. Unfortunately, they aren't dumb enough to facecheck a brush that teemo just walked into.

I'm saying Diamond in the previous season probably isn't relevant towards your normal MMR

maybe it is, but against Challengers? I don't think so.

I think you might need to relax on the defense, jumping to conclusions like that lol.

All I said was this isn't a competition and you're jumping to protect yourself as if you're being stabbed. That's a perfect example of defensiveness.

I'm assuming you won't believe that I play with Challenger/Master players. I don't take screenshots since I play with them often that it isn't something special. Luckily, I don't care whether you believe me or not.

In hindsight, I wish I screenshotted the time I played with NB3, he was a cool guy. x/

I agree, but sometimes that doesn't have the pure visceral thrill of REALLY stomping losers. So when that happens I go to the local kindergarten and play soccer against 5 yr olds. It's hilarious kicking balls directly into their faces and running them down because they aren't QUITE solid on their legs yet. Elementary schoolers might get a lucky kick/punch to the crotch, but the kindergarteners can barely stand so I can annihilate them. Gotta watch out for bitchy parents tho, who just don't want me to have fun just because their kids are crying, heck that's the best part!

Not really, the intentional feeding detection system isn't all that sophisticated. And for obvious reasons I'm not posting on the bronze account I use.

Here's what you do for an almost guaranteed loss:

  1. pick Nunu mid/top, take smite
  2. Steal your jungler's camps in his first clear. He'll be level 1 4 minutes in, and you guys will have an empty lane.
  3. Feed double buffs bot
  4. Just clear a jungle camp except for one small monster, let it attack you so you don't trigger the AFK detection system, and just alt-tab and do something else.

That is truly disgusting. Imagine how terrible you are making 4/5 people feel each game. Nobody likes getting totally shit on, so when you do stomp, it feels unfair to the other team and they feel terrible. Then you troll your next game to make sure you stay in bronze 5, imagine how horrible your teammates feel. You are literally ruining the game for a group of people each time you play it. I hope you get banned.

Yeah you got a point. I'm having trouble finishing my work because my mind's always drowning in a lust for smurfing. The high just isn't comparable to anything else (including running, weed, or sex). It's always on my mind and I would get the urge to smurf at the most random times. When I don't smurf for a while the withdrawal is actually pretty bad.

I didn't say auto detector I said flagged. You would be reported everytime you did that and eventually be flagged for a manual review.

Honestly though it doesn't matter literally no one here believes you. The desperation of your posts are humorous though, I'll probably stop by a few more times to see some more quality content.

I prefer using Tahm/Anivia and going around getting my team killed by blocking their escape or eating them then running into the enemy,
