How realistic is carrying the game through top lane?

So, Im not going to say im diamond or plat or anything. Ive played for a year on a different account, but ive made a new one for s9. I have not put serious time into league, so i also will not say that I am very good. Ive had a few good games and a few bad games, but there were two games back to back that I really want to talk about. So, the first game was when i was level 10 and was going to play my first game of draft. They picked Riven top lane, and so i picked up the good ole' classic Garen . She was not a good riven, which was kind of given since it was level 10 draft. I did well in lane, and got the turret, and so one. Trundle came to gank, then I would get a double kill. It was a good lane. Our Darius jungle was also doing very good. Besides from that though, we had a 9/10/5 Yi, 6/4/9 Ezreal, and 0/13/8 Sona. There strongest was an 18/11 Yi, but otherwise, we were smashing them. I finished the game 12/2/7, and it was an easy game pickup.

The next game I played was also a draft game. They picked Akali , which I thought was top, So I again picked up Garen . I thought that it would be an easy game. The draft went through and they picked a Veigar mid, or so i thought. We loaded in and it turned out Veigar top and Akali mid. Anyway, enough about the boring stuff. The game went fine and we were winning. We were up 2k gold as a team, and 11 kills. The only negative KDA on our team was a 5/10 lux mid. And the only positive KDA on their team was a 9/7 tank Kha'Zix. Still, they were up a baron and two turrets, but otherwise, we were on the way for a win. That's when my team decided to ff. I was 16/4/3, and nobody on our team was feeding, but they decided to ff.

I just wanted to throughout that even if someone is doing so, so well, it still is so reliant on your teammates. I mean, if your not queuing with someone, it is just SO reliant on your teammates ability to understand the map. Maybe Riot could make a way so that if you do really well in top lane, you can translate the lead to your teammates even if they are not that great, or if anyone has any tips to carry games off top laners like Garen. OR, if anyone has certain top laners that can successfully carry?

thanks

Are you playing a hypercarry? Yes its plausible to carry against other hypercarries.

Are you playing some rando AD champion? No, its not plausible to carry unless youre super far ahead. Im talkin item 3071 item 3053 item 3748 on Illaoi at 15 minutes ahead.

very?, i mean your other laners have to not feed thier ass off... but u can say that for any position.

if u win lane hard.. and your allies dont feed u can carry from ANY position... even support.

the issue with that statmente is that chances of getting teammates who don't feed is roughly 5%

It's the same for nearly every position, if your team goes 0/20, you just lose. However, I do think that if you are a proactive top laner - tping to fights, splitting, just doing whatever role you have to do, you can carry. You have to help your carries carry you

Makes you wonder why toplaners have such insane numbers n stats compared to everyone else. Could it be that toplane as a whole is a non functional role?
