ARAM Remakes?
Well, I've taken to Reddit, just submitted a ticket to Ask Riot, and now I'm here on the boards for more opinions.
Here's the original Reddit post if anyone's interested (pretty much the same content as this post): https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/6p0ijo/aram_remakes/
It's been awhile since the remake system was implemented in normals, and when it's used, it does what it's supposed to. There are more leavers in ARAM than normal games, so why not bring it into ARAM? I'd rather wait a few more minutes to find a legitimate 5v5 game instead of playing a fast, empty game, the outcome decided from the beginning.
Some of my friends have said Riot just doesn't care about ARAM. It's obvious and understandable that they show normals more love and for good reason, but they've done some recentish things (I forget, but it was stuff like updating itemization and fixing the reroll dodge bug, etc.) ARAMers are people too - we've all seen the people with names that say something to the effect of "aram only" accompanied by the club tag "ARAM".
I'm sure that there's some stuff with people who dislike their champion or the enemy comp and disconnect because of that. If this is actually the problem, then they can do something like make the queue timer for causing a remake longer than the queue timer for dodging, which would put it at around 40 minutes or more. Once you're out, you're out - it'd be worth more to just finish the game than leave and wait 40 minutes. Another option would be to add harsher penalties for those who continually cause ARAM remakes. It sounds crazy, but it would encourage dodgers who would dodge regardless (I'm not encouraging dodging in any way) to leave in champ select for a shorter queue dodge timer instead of after everyone's waited ten minutes for that kid with a hamster-powered potato to load in.
Two other answers that could be experimented with are decreasing time of the remake to something like two minutes, or decreasing the surrender timer to ten minutes. Both of these have very obvious problems. For the first one, there are people who go and do something else during the loading screen and misjudge the time it takes to load in. And for the second, it cuts legitimate 5v5s short if one team just gives up.
And to the people who choose ARAM because they only have enough time for an ARAM, it seems like we have to choose between game quality and the speed that ARAMs usually promise us. I sympathize with people who play ARAM because they don't have that much time, but if I only had a little time, I'd prefer remaking a doomed game and go do something else than wasting 15 minutes playing a game that no one's really enjoying because it was pretty much over from the start. Yes, ARAMs are known for being fast, but what's fast worth if the actual game isn't really worth playing?
TL;DR give us aram remakes riot.
