What helped me get out of Bronze/Silver after 1600 games
After 1600 games this season I finally hit gold.( yes I know gold is still low elo and I still think I suck) I've been playing the game since the end of Season 3(over many, many accounts due to permabans). So I've always had an idea of how to play but I always was low bronze or low silver. This season i absolutely dumpstered my MMR from not giving a fuck and playing like dog shit(after dropping from silver 3 where I got placed when I completed provisionals) and landed in bronze 3. I was getting like 13lp a win and 21lp a loss. So I was essentially in elo hell. May I add this was a FRESH account too, due to my account I had the year prior getting banned( I had the same LP gains on that account too and climbed out of bronze maining Wukong). So getting out of bronze and silver solo is possible. I'm still bad at the game and do dumb shit all the time, and I once did believe elo hell existed but I don't anymore.
These are some things that helped me climb.
One trick a champion and role Try to have one champion and role as your main pick in which you can carry with/from, (preferably something fun so you don't get bored) then just play the shit out of it. That champion for me was Kayn. He's fun and able to carry a game himself and my main role was jungle. Once you're comfortable on the champ pick a couple of others up that are fun to play. I ended up picking up Hecarim, Vi, Wukong and Nocturne later on that can help you out if your main gets banned or is a bad choice for your team comp. Now When I say comfortable I mean being able to perform with it consistently enough to be able to hold a 50% win rate regardless of whether it's over 50 games or 300+( i managed to hold 54% win rate on Kayn over 390 games). That way you'll have a 50% chance of winning on that champion which is better than playing random champions and having a negative win rate. Also DON'T GET DISCOURAGED OR BORED OR TRY TO COUNTER PICK. Just play your one trick or your back up picks, yes you'll have games where you feed your ass off(I had games where I did garbage but the next I carried hard the next game) so yes you maybe won't always pop off or even do bad. But if you're able to hold that 50 or 50+% win rate on your OTP it means you'll at least be able to play consistently enough every other game or so regardless of trolls, rage quitters, feeders or you just performing badly yourself, that you're more likely to win the following game by you popping off or at least playing decent enough to be able to make some kind of impact or so you can allow yourself to get carried by someone fed on your team.
What if you are auto filled?
What helped me was get ONE champion for each role that is mechanically EASY. Something that you can't out play yourself on, so no Katarina, Zed, Yasuo etc. Pick a champion that is basic AF so you don't have to rely on mechanical skills and you can just focus on surviving . not making dumb plays and playing around the players that are on their main roles. For mid I chose Neeko. She's easy doesn't require much mechanics and if I'm behind I'm still useful cause of CC and poke. Top I chose pantheon and Garen cause you can't really screw up with those two and both are pretty strong picks. For ADC I picked Tristana cause she's safe, with her jump and knock back so even if I screw up I have multiple get out of jail cards. For support I chose Leona and Neeko for the CC and hard engage( no one ever drafts CC in bronze or silver so it's great if you have it and it can lock down cheese like master yi).
-ASK TO TRADE
If you are autofilled the person who has your main role to trade you. Yes you may be trading for that persons main role BUT they could be garbgage at their main role and champion so if you can get yours at LEAST you have that 50% chance to fall back on opposed to die rolling with your autofill pick where you will have zero impact on the game most likely.
Adapt yourself to how the game is playing out If you're in lane and you just got solo killed DO NOT COME BACK AND ATTEMPT THE 1V1. So many times I've seen people just TP in after getting killed and engaging again when the enemy is up a level or 2 and just bought a new item. Just wait and play passive and wait for jungler assistance. If the jungler does not come just farm safely and if the tower goes down, it goes down. It's better than dying 7 times to enemy laner and losing the tower. Yes I know it requires swallowing your ego that you didn't stomp your lane but get over it. If someone is super fed on the enemy team and you know you can't 1v1 DO NOT ENGAGE THIS PERSON solo. Get help from your team. If you're whole team is behind don't just group mid and fight with them over and over or fight over objectives you know you can't secure. Just farm up or push out a wave try to take a tower etc.
Allow yourself to be carried If you're behind and the rest of your team is doing good or hard stomping allow them to carry you. It sucks you won't be POG this game but it doesn't matter as long as you win. If you're behind play around your fed team mates. Support them and make sure they can carry you so don't make stupid plays trying to come back or do anything to jeopardize your team.
Don't be afraid to dodge If you see a troll in your game or your team comp is raising red flags that you will lose (Ivern top, Taric top or something stupid that you know you won't win) just dodge. You only lose 3lp for the first one and 13lp for each one after and when you're only getting 12-16 lp a win it's not worth the 18+ lp loss as well as your time and sanity.
Mute idiots on your team If they are flaming you for their mistakes mute that immediately. You'll spend more time typing than playing
Push your advantage and help your team If you left lane fed or dropped that first tower early, rotate to another lane to get a tower or help with an objective. Worst thing you can do is sit in your lane and do absolutely nothing with your lead.
-Focus Objectives
If you have the option to chase that udyr through his jungle or get a tower, you get that turret. objective is available and safe to get but jungler is doing something else? take it without him. If your team aced while you were farming bot lane and see them starting baron, you run your ass to baron and help secure.
End game quickly as possible if possible Don't farm kills just close out as quick as you can. The longer it goes on the more likely you'll lose due to a throw. Well that's what helped me get out of elo hell. I hope this can help SOMEBODY. If you play enough games and try to improve you will climb out. If an average player like me that it took 1600 games to leave bronze/silver then im sure anyone can. It just takes time.
