Why you shouldn't take ranked seriously.

To start this post off, I'd like to say that I really don't have any expectations of anyone actually reading this - because most people will automatically write this off as another one of those whiny posts from people who can't climb the ladder.

Here are some basic facts about me as a player before we get into the whole rant, so that readers know that I, at least, have some basic understanding of how this game works: I've put in about 1985 hours. I started playing around the time that Ahri was released in Season 2 and picked up the game pretty quickly. This was the first MOBA that I had ever played, and to be expected with any player new to a MOBA, I placed in about 1200 ELO (Around Silver). Throughout the years, I've experienced what it's like to play in ELO Hell (**980 **ELO at the end of Season 2, baby) - I know what gameplay between Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum is like, and let me tell you, one of the most enjoyable experiences I've ever had in all the years that I've played this game, is playing with a group of friends that have an above average understanding of how the game works.

Nothing quite compares to the feeling of making a good play and having something great come out of it.

That being said, the reason why I don't take ranked seriously, is because it's all about luck. You can be a great player. You can have fantastic mechanics and strategic skill, know when to rotate, know when to trade, how to trade, and where/how to ward spots. You can know_ all _ of this and still end up losing games because of your team. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you can win. If you're a higher ELO (Plat+) player that is playing against those of lesser ELO (Gold-), you can usually punish players by capitalizing on their mistakes. But this whole concept of trading and capitalizing is lost to most of the player base, which unfortunately makes up Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The reason why smurfs are so successful in climbing is because making a come-back in lower ranked play is an absolute rarity. Why is that? Players don't understand how - and if they do manage to come back, it's likely because the opposing team started throwing their lead and not pressing their advantage. Because the concept of rotating and trading objectives is absolutely foreign to them.

Then there are the people who simply play ranked to play ranked and mess around. Typical trolls and goons alike. It's no secret that the League community happens to be one of the most toxic. Because messing with people and feeding off of their frustration is viewed as humorous or entertaining.

I know this is just one of thousands of posts regarding the same thing, but this is a major issue with the game. Thanks for the read.

tl;dr Personal skill is irrelevant to obtaining ranked wins.

I've heard this millions of times. OP theres a reason diamond streamers that boosted bronze 5 got out so easily, they can 1v5 which is so easy in that elo with champions like vayne, heimerdinger, yasuo, mordekaiser, hell even amumu and volibear are 1v5 material lmao. If you have the skill you will get out, its just that simple. Plat is 5% or less of players for a reason you know.

sorry man, this is truly just another whiny thread. you are in complete and utter denial if you believe personal skill is irrelevant to winning games.

now, can one person singlehandedly carry 4 baddies? probably not unless they are classes above their opponent. (and i mean heavily out classing them).

But, more importantly, the way the ranked system works is you don't have to win every game to climb. you have to win a little more than half. like 60% and you'll climb eventually. 70% and you'll climb pretty fast. anything more than that and you will skip divisions pretty quick as your MMR will shoot up very high.

And if you win your lane you are upping your odds of winning. if you know how to push your advantage your upping your odds of winning. if you know how to push and take objectives and make calls, you are upping your odds of winning. eventually you get good enough to where your odds are very high of winning vs opponents who don't have the same skill and game knowledge that you have.

That is really what carrying is. You can't carry.

What people get hung up on is "im the best player on my team, im better than the players in my elo, but i can't carry them so the ranked system is broken".

You might be better than the players in your elo, but you aren't as good as the players in the elos above you because you can't carry the way they can. you don't have the skill and the game knowledge they do.

The longer you stay in denial the longer you will stay in whatever elo you are stuck in. You have to admit there is a NEXT level of getting better and work towards it. the problem with league is that once you start to hit around a low gold skill level, it is not as "easy" to get good at the game as it was before. You can get to an "average" sense of the game and carry bronze/silver baddies very easily very quickly. But once you realize everyone else already knows that...well then you have to really learn the hard stuff and the more technical/advanced things. and that takes a lot of time and work compartively. there's a reason there is a MASSIVE skill difference between high diamond 1/master/challenger and literally everyone else. I mean that. Put a challenger player in a game with 4 lesser teammates that are outclassed by their opponent. he will still carry.

You are in denial. get out of it and you will climb.

This isn't a thread about wanting to climb.
