How to improve mid lane skills?

What are some thing that I could do to improve my mid lane experience, as of now I one trick Zed but ocasionally play other picks because I don't want to only rely on one champion, even though I'm semi-consistent with Zed. I'm in a low elo as of now because of new account, but what are some small tips that could help me get better as a player and as a mid laner. In my past account I was S3, I only played my promos and never really took ranked seriously. Would appreciate it, thank you and have a good day! [sg-shisa]

Hey there! Mid-plat support main here. I'll offer you some quick and dirty tips to help you climb in solo ranked play.

1.) I recommend maining one champion to perfection. People might tell you that counter picking is important, and sure, it can be - but you learn a TON by playing INTO a bad matchup. You learn what works, and what doesn't. You also want to be extremely comfortable with what your building and how your champion plays. Also: I'd highly reccoment a champion with Late Game Carry Potential. All roles have these. You don't want to play someone who falls off. Everyone will say games are shorter then ever, its bullshit - especially pre-platinum, where no one knows when or how to push effectively.

2.) As a baseline, try to never die more than 5 times per game. Take a minute and look at my average deaths over the last 20 games. Then check yours. Who's died less? This is something many, many players fail to realize. You want to get better? Stop Dying. It's absolutely critical to learn to die as little as possible.

3.) Rather than focusing on if you won or lost, try to focus on YOUR OWN PLAY and how the matchup went. Remember that even the best of the best only win 60-70% of games longterm. You are one of five. No matter how godlike you are, you will lose, and it will not be your fault. Remember not to beat yourself up over it.

Sit in custom games to practice csing. You don't always have to hit 200 at 20, but you better be punishing your opponent (or successively roaming) if you aren't csing.

Learn how match ups play out. This is literally just grinding hundreds of games, you can ask friends to 1v1 on specific champions if you are into that.

Stare at your mini map like your life depends on it, you can literally win games off of roaming to fights faster than your opponent (and it helps avoid ganks).

Buy pink, lots of them. Try to place them aggressively if your team is ahead, in side brush if you are even, and defensively if behind (for spotting invades).

Don't die, I know that sounds obvious but you are responsible for the vast majority of your teams map pressure early. If you die the enemy gains a lot of pressure that can easily snowball a game.

That is pretty much everything you need to get diamond, feel free to ask more specific questions and I will elaborate.
