Blue Essence system needs a rework
As we all know the new champion Kai'sa hit the Rift last patch, priced at a cool 7800 BE. I created an alternate account as a test to see how long it would take to obtain her, and these are the results:
games played: 78 total time played: 19:40:46 final summoner level: 14
This was done over the course of 2 days, but as most players will only be playing a few games a say or less this can easily take a month or more, given that this took a total of 10 basic champ capsules and one glorious champ capsule. Gaining 11 levels is no mean feat for an established account (my main account was unused since Season 5 until about 3 months ago, after a fair bit of play I have gained a total of 14 levels (I was level 24 at the time).
On top of the high price and limited earning potential for BE Kai'sa was not included in the free champion rotation for this week, which makes it quite difficult for players to be able to use her without spending money, and will likely see very little play for the next few weeks while players slowly save up.
I know that at this point it is a tired statement, but the Blue Essence system needs an overhaul, at this point League feels like another cash grab (one of the reasons this game has always been so popular). At this rate it's very difficult for players to get into Ranked play, since you need 20 different champs to be able to draft and with each capsule opened you are forced to choose between saving a shard to try to craft the champ later or disenchanting and hoping for a better one after the grind to the next level. It shouldn't feel like work, it's a game.
