A thought on Rek'Sai mid

As we jump into the new ranked season, I wanted to share my thoughts on Rek'Sai mid. I have seen a lot of fighting from members of the community when I choose to fill this role, although there are also a lot of people out there that support me. I wanted to outline the pros and cons of this position, and gather feedback from the community on this. I will start out by saying, that for me, Rek'Sai mid has been a huge success, both pre and post nerf.

Pros: Sheer power- It is hard to argue that Rek'Sai is underpowered when it comes to her farm, thanks to her Q. I am often beating out my laner by 15 or more CS by 10 mins, and usually double by 20. Obvious exceptions to this are karthus and heimerdinger.

Ungankability- Let me clarify this point a little, because for this to be true, the laner needs to pay close attention to their surroundings. Thanks to the shortness of the lane, Rek can come out of her burrow, clear a minion wave and be back in her burrow in a matter of seconds, keeping her E saved for an escape, (or a kill is its a sure thing), allows her to quickly jump back to her tower when she sees the outline of the enemy jungle coming.

Outclass the lane- With a few exceptions Rek can usually dominate the lane. The only real issue I have found so far is that she cannot handle a fizz... at all. She also hard counters a few popular mids, most importantly Kat. When Kat tries to ult rek, if she is burrowed she knocks kat up instantly, cancelling her ult. If played right she flat out stops Kat.

Sustainability- Lets face it, with the passive on her w, she regens health like crazy, no mana costs also allow her to stay in lane until 6, when she can go back for a taimat, and ult to her lane in a matter seconds.

Cons: AD mid- Just like with Talon and Zed, she is an AD mid, which drains power from your team, unless someone is willing to play ap elsewhere, such as a fiddle jungle, morg support, or an ap top.

No slow- one thing that helps Talon out, is his ability to flash behind an enemy, and slow them drastically while he kills them. Rek'Sai has to rely on her E to move into position and knock her op up, which is risky since it is also her escape. There have been times that I have flash into an op to knock them up, saving my E for an escape. I found that this works surprising well.

No real poke- She has the ability to harass with her Q if she maneuvers around the minion wave, and can get off a shot, but its a small poke. Her main role is to harass the enemy and keep them away from their farm. If they do come in, you knock them up and open with a barrage of Q/E. They usually can't stay in this for long, and will retreat.

These are a few of my thoughts on this position, and I welcome constructive feedback. I am also curious why some people are so adamantly against this position. I was called a troll, just last game, for taking Rek'Sai mid, even though I went 7/2/8 and we won.

Rek'Sai good against assassins? Well, she is a bruiser after all.
