Is malzahar ever going to come back up the ladder ?

I know some people will disagree and say he's balanced and in fact quite op, some will completely ignore is existence and some, like me, will at least be glad some damage was brought back to his ultimate. What I wonder is, will his voidlings ever be a bit more tanky early game ? I mean, it's his main damage output yet voidlings can be killed with one basic attack of any champs, rendering farming early game harsh. And why did riot take out the buff the voidlings had when he would use malefic vision ? At least, the voidling would rush towards the target and maybe deal a little bit of damage thanks to that and the attack speed. But now, if you don't have level 6 or a jungler with cc, your chances of landing a malefic vision and voidlings attack are more then slim. Them being so slow and easy to kill, if you can't immobilize the target, they get killed before even reaching the target...
