Carry junglers dominate the meta right now. Will the vanguard tank update fix that?
That's the link to Rito's post about Sejuani's incoming kit. They mention a lot of issues with tanks in general, and how Sej's update will fix them with her specifically, but they don't mention the fact that she's a tank jungler, and tank junglers don't look great right now.
Why exactly?
Tanks are great in the current meta everywhere except jungle. The reason they fall behind in the jungle is due to their god-awful clear speed. Carry junglers can clear quickly, and rocket ahead into mid game by doing so. Tank junglers struggle to keep up, which is why Ivern, the only tank jungler with an insanely fast clear speed, is the only tank jungler in the meta. Zac is up there as well.
They mention wanting to add agency to her kit besides her ultimate- taking power away from the ult to compensate. Hopefully this means that her abilities will be stronger and can clear camps with more ease. I'm not asking for the same clear speed as damage-junglers, but something comparable at least. The fact that this glaring issue has yet to be mentioned within the vanguard tank update posts worries me, especially because it's been spotted in other posts by Riot, so it's clear that they know it's an issue. So if Riot knows about the tank jungler clear speed issue, but has yet to mention it regarding the updates, does that mean there isn't a fix coming in that department?
I used to love playing tanks, but I've had to switch to carries, and if I want to go tanky, I have to pick a bruiser like Olaf or Trundle to keep up with clear speed, because Sej and Naut are suicide if the enemy jungler knows well enough that you're susceptible to a weak early game.
