i stopped playing back at the end of 2014 just before the changed veigars skills. what did i miss?

Honestly? Wrong place to ask. You're gonna get a loooooot of people telling you about how Riot's "fucking up the game" with a little something called Dynamic Queue. But if you ignore all that, I'd say a fair bit has changed.

You said you left in about 2014, right? Honestly, I'd say your best bet would be to backtrack to that time period, and read through the patch notes that have come since. That'll be the closest to unbiased information you can get. Also check out Surrender@20, and perhaps see if you can find any of the stories and events that happened while you were gone. You're honestly missing out if you don't catch up on the new lore and such.

Dynamic queue is an extreme problem, also the game is back to its roots. Trolling since most of the nice players quit. Also many many many champions have changed. Also new items and lost items.

veigar's Q is a skillshot that can hit up to two targets and his stun is a lot slower then they updated him some more by giving him more AP any time he hits a champion with any of his abilities (including stun) and changed his ult to have bonus damage on low health targets instead of scaling with enemy AP

dunno what else you care about, that was two years ago and there's a lot to go over. Marksman update, Juggernaut update, Mage update, season changes, queue changes...

You also missed people complaining about instant locking people, then complaining when Riot introduces a way for everyone to get one of their top two roles. But no one wants to support, so if you choose that as one of the two that is most likely what you will get(hurray for us support mains!)

Immobile Mages, Juggernauts, and Marksmen were given radical changes.
