The end of Fiddlesticks

Fiddlesticks used to be my main champ. He was my first when I started to play this game 1 and half year ago. Back in the day it took some practice to master him, but he could be very strong. After awhile I started to main others too and continued to play fiddle from time to time. Over the past 1 and half year, he only received nerfs though. I would gladly like to play him again, but whenever I start a game with fiddle I find myself losing the game or just getting a bad score. I haven't seen any fiddle players around too anymore. It's like most players have realized what happened to his former strength. Just overall the nerfs aren't really fair in my opinion. Since the time I play him he got all these updates:

  • First scare was double nerfed. Opponents run away instead of towards, and scaretime reduced from 3 to 2,25. Drain got a range buff to compensate for it, that was a good thing.
  • Then his crow throw lost it's double silence.
  • His ability was only activated upon dealing damage to an opponent, instead of always on
  • And after these nerfs, his drain got a nerf too. Now the range buff it got earlier to compensate for the fear nerf was removed.

So what's left of fiddle? A champion that has:

  • An ability that doesn't have much usage, since it's hard to deal continous damage with fiddle
  • A fear that is pretty balanced
  • A draining move that can be easily stepped out off, has a short range and doesn't work well with it's fear since opponents run away
  • A crow throw that can still do a little damage and poke, but lacks hard offensive power
  • An ult that has a very long cooldown and not that great of a usage, especially in a well warded environment

Fiddles way to deal damage and make an impact have really been drastically reduced. When his ult is on cooldown, what means does he have to resort to, to deal damage? Most players just walk out of drain and crow doesn't do much. So only thing he can really do is scare others =P Fiddle also is pretty squishy. Last game I got ulted by a Malz and was pretty much one shoted, whilst he wasn't even fed. The times he can set up a succesful drain can be easily interupted too. I simply don't see much potential in fiddle anymore. He is pretty much becoming an inferior support, with champions who can do what he can, but alot better.

That's pretty much how I feel with him now- ineffective. Don't forget the mobility creep: it's hard to channel a 5 second spell to deal damage when everyone has a dash or something, and hard to get into range on a slow champ to use said spell in the first place.

Yeah indeed! I wonder though if riot will finally buff him again. This article got more down votes than up votes at the moment, probably since most people simply don't care about fiddle. Not many people used to main him, but the few that did, could be a huge annoyance to the other players, pretty much what I liked alot about fiddle =P

Now, no one gets bothered by fiddle anymore, pretty much because no one plays fiddle anymore. I bet he got all those nerfs, because people kept complaining about 'OP fiddle', they probably would still complain if fiddle was still able to get a positive K/D =P
