Having Duo Queue In Ranked Doesn't Make Sense

The rankings are on an individual basis so chance and skill should be the only things that factor in. Yet, you can tilt the odds in your favor by duo queuing. with someone you know you can win with. Riot, explain this to me please. I know people have complained about it for a while. Why this is still in a ranked setting still baffles me all these years later and Riot has never explained this. I understand that they're a business and they're trying to make the game fun and social. But that's what unranked games are for. I already know this thread is going to get flooded with trolls that support being able to duo for the purpose of tilting the odds (why else would you do it right? you wouldn't queue with someone purposely throwing games). It's still just baffling. "Find a duo" is not a good solution because the rankings are still for individuals. I just want a fair system. And the current system is inherently unfair to the point where if I'm playing top, I have to check every game if the top and jungle are duo'd and adjust my play style accordingly because I know I'll get camped. How is that fair? 5 randoms vs 5 randoms. Not two POSSIBLY coordinated and cooperative players and 3 randoms vs 5 randoms. Whether or not they are actually successful isn't the point, but allowing the possibility is what makes the system inherently unbalanced.

If both players are good, how is it different than if you are good by yourself and get matched with a good player randomly? If the goal is to help carry a lesser player to a higher rank, then as soon as they go back to queuing by themselves, they will fall down the ladder because they never deserved to be there in the first place, and their skill will reflect it.

It's not about just carrying another player. Coordination and cooperation is difficult to measure altogether. You can never really account for it no matter how hard you try. It goes beyond skill. Each team should have the same chance of 5 possibly uncoordinated and uncooperative players vs another set with the same circumstances. Otherwise, it'll be unbalanced and unfair. Two good players that have never played together is not the same as two players that play together regularly. It's just not.

True. Half of the time the randos are still more coordinated than the duo. Feelsbadman

And that'd be the fault of the duo. Me being able to choose an incompatible duo partner is my own fault and doesn't invalidate the fact that I COULD choose a compatible duo partner to tilt odds in my favor.

When you duo, you are usually placed in a higher mmr to adjust for the difference in communication between teams. I'm sorry but, I've slaughtered many great duos because my adc was just superior in lane against them (and I was lucky enough to be their ardent bitch). I don't think you get that great of an advantage UNLESS ofc you're playing with a smurf. In which case, nothing I can do there, and you'll likely drop to your appropriate elo in due time.

No one is saying it's fool proof that a duo will have an advantage over you. Again, if someone chooses a duo they don't have complete synergy with and/or is at a much lower skill level, that's their choice. But again, coordination and cooperation is difficult, if not impossible, to measure so you don't know how much MMR is enough to make teams equal.

This is a game. Games are more fun with friends.

Does it have to be ranked though? There's normals for it where they can be allowed. Otherwise, the rankings are somewhat meaningless in some respects if a player can tilt odds his way outside of skill and chance.

Riot has heavily marketed "duo queue" and it's part of their sell to get people to play I guess. They probably have no plans of ever giving us a true solo queue.

Wait you think having Duo Queues give the Duo an advantage? Ahahaha, my whole time playing this game I have only seen 1 duo that were actually good and that because they were smurfing (or getting boosted).

Duo Que players need to Duo because either A. Theyre bad and need someone to carry them to boost their ego B. They want to play with friends. C. They gettin boooooooooooooooosted

Duo Queueing does not equal winning. In fact I used to dodge most the time I got Duo Queuers on my team because I just know theyre not gonna be good. But now I know how to carry 1v9 so its no prob for me.

But hey getting rid of em wouldnt hurt me, itd make me happier tbh.

True. I feel like similar to ranked flex, riot should separate ranked solo and ranked duo.

Nope, duo que is the best. I mean, I want to play with a friend from time to time. Best league experience ever to play with a friend+skype

You can still do it in ranked flex or normal queues....
