Champions Like The Old Gangplank

Before the rework of Gangplank I could play him non-stop, he was literally my favorite champion.

After the rework I was devastated, I couldn't enjoy the game at all, and ended up enjoying only through playing "troll" and 'unique' picks (if you check out my long term match history you'll understand).

I really need help finding a replacement for the Old Gangplank because I've been looking for a new champions for something around... Few years now.

What I liked about the OLD Gangplank:

  • Straightforward
  • On-hit effect on his Q
  • Mobility (that E and those Swiftness Boots, RAWR)
  • Sustain (Oranges, specially with the ap builds-rip)
  • His old E: passive movement speed and ad
  • Who doesn't love a global ultimate... :P

And that's about it...

My favorite stats are (by order):

  • Mobility
  • Sustain
  • On-hit effects
  • Attack speed
  • ( Having them from a passive is a huge + )

Things I hate:

  • Playing adc
  • Not being able to deal damage
  • The new Gangplank and his new E!

Having a passive like: Gangplank's old E, Miss Fortune's W, Xin Zhao's W, is a huge plus.

Do you have any idea what champions are the most similar to the Older version of Gangplank? And what champion could actually fit my 'demands' $_$?

Looking at what you loved, gangplank is still pretty close. His new E actually makes getting the silver you need to upgrade his Ult pretty easy, and his Ult is a lot better now. Also, the current meta build for gangplank gives you a huge movement speed buff when you hit with your E. But, seeing how you scratched that off the list of choices... I'd say new Warwick. Sure he doesn't have a global ult, but he's straight forward. He get's bonus attack speed from his W's passive, has huge sustain, his W's passive makes him pretty fast, and he his damage reduction and fear to boot. Again, he's a bit clunky, missing someone by a pixel with his ult can be awkward, but he's fun. I'm not sure off the top of my head about on-hit effects, but seeing how he does a huge amount of damage quick, and can be extremely tanky late game, I think you might enjoy him.

As a side note, he is mostly played jungle, seeing how his W is global, and allows him to quickly gank any lane, but top-lane warwick isn't the worst. His massive attack speed boost from his W passive, and his normal passive, means that you should win trades, and once you get used to leaping through flashes with his Q to stick on someone, I'd imagine it being a blast.

What about Shyvana?

Her Q is like a melee GP Q, exchanging base damage for an AD ratio that scales with rank.

Her W is mobility (movespeed), bonus damage on autos, and bonus damage around you (read: on your autos - who gives a damn about anyone else it hits, and it's gonna hit who you're autoing). Swifties aren't too rare on Shyv either. Basically GP E.

Her E is more damage on autos, also skillshot.

Ult is gapcloser plus RAWR mode. Sure not a global, but it's still fun. Bit of disruption alone, but massive disruption combined with your massive (now) AoE damage.

New Gangplank is so much better in every sense of the way. He became a late game monster with those barrels. Before that, there really wasn't anything special going on for Gangplank. Just his orange and crit. Now, he has all that and much more.
