Relooking at Master Yi after Devourer/Rageblade changes

Hey Riot,

Both nerfs to Yi this year were because of the current state of Devourer and Rageblade.

I have a couple of questions:

  1. What do you think his state will be next patch when he doesn't get the same power with Devourer and Rageblade?
  2. Are you looking at him at all and potentially bringing some power back since he can't abuse these items anymore?

Looking forward to your reply!

Honestly I feel Yi defiantly needs looking at

He was left untouched for ages simply because he was fine as is. He was a flanking assassin who killed you if he got the first few hits in. However Rageblade and dev turned him into a champion who could one v one you at any point of the game even if he miss played. Basically the two items dumbed him down by A LOT. So I really hope Riot solves the current issue of Yi which is.

"snow ball or bust" I mean Fiora had the same problem, that's why she was reworked, That is also why Rengar is scheduled for a rework. So I hope they don't just leave Yi in the same situation they left teamo

A annoying champion who is nothing but annoying if you don't play around him correctly.

Master Yi has NEVER been a healthy champ. I know AP Yi was allowed to exist for like 4 seasons before they finally changed him, but you can't possibly tell me he was healthy. After his rework I guess he was a little bit healthier, but still extremely strong. Not a single champion in this game has a better late game than Master Yi. Resets, true damage, damage reduction, slow immunity, untargetable ability, etc. Master Yi is designed to kill everything and not die. And frankly, he's extremely good at what he does.

AP Yi existed for like a season max. What are you talking about? We've only had 6 seasons, and you say AP Yi was in 4 of them

He had AP ratios when he first came out (way back in season 1). I forgot exactly when they nerfed him, but AP Yi was a thing for many years before they finally reworked him.

Here's the earliest change to AP ratios I could find:

V3.01

Meditate Total heal amount increased to 200 / 350 / 500 / 650 / 800 from 140 / 280 / 420 / 560 / 700. Total ability power ratio reduced to (+200% AP) from (+400% AP). Mana cost reduced to 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 from 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110.

Next change is his rework in 3.10

Meditate (W)

Master Yi channels for 4 seconds, gaining 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60% damage reduction and healing for 30 / 50 / 70 / 90 / 110 (+30% AP) per second. This heal is increased by 1% for every 1% Health Master Yi is missing. The damage reduction is halved against turrets. Mana cost: 50 / 65 / 80 / 95 / 110 Cooldown: 35 seconds

And this is pretty much what we've other then a few minor stat changes and bug fixes until 6.6

Ok, whatever. It doesn't really matter how long it was allowed to exist. The point is it was a thing for a while, and it was stupid. Pretty much every variation of Master Yi has been dumb as hell.

Tryndamere gobs Yi's nob in a 1v1 late game.

Other champions arguably have better late games despite not being able to duel him due to being better in team fights, like a properly peeled for Twitch.

The real question is will they ever fix the alpha strike bugs?

This has been answered thanks to a response from a fellow YIMO member Kadexe pointing to a FeralPony response.

Thanks Kadexe and FeralPony! :D

both item's change will actually make yi stronger, hit his powerspike faster and do nearly the same amount of dmg.

recent changes to yi are all meant for increasing his risk and reward, which means they are still indirect buffs if u dont build tank yi.
