So i was playing ranked to improve my skills. im silver 1 so dont judge. anyways i was playing mid like i usually do and then i see a yi and a taric mid. they boost the jungle and then proceed to gank everyone until master yi was fed and carried the game. there was no counter against it. 1 blink and the next teammate was killed. i truly hate this meta. im starting to hate the game
Like the Black Desert Online devs Riot has a very poor track record at fixing anything meaningful. They just change whatever is doing well or balanced and make it worse or better or something else entirely.
Riot doesn't believe in a meta. They believe they can continue changing the game in various and sometimes drastic ways and call it a vision. When in reality, they lack vision as a company and LoL suffers greatly from incompetent developers.
Yeah the taric yi combo is really bad... I watched a vid on how to counter it and they guy just went: oh yi? imma pick taric, look up some builds and win! He basically just picks taric to stop the strat from happening at all lol. I ban yi or taric to stop it myself but sucks to use a ban on cheese that may or may not happen but if it does it is almost unbeatable.

They're nerfing it. But look up counterplay on youtube for it. It's actually a fairly bad strat when you know how to play against it :)
When Taric is alone mid, mid should be poking him down and shoving in fast so Yi can't take the CS.
When Yi is with Taric mid, jungle should be counterjungling or ganking other lanes since their jungler is being seen middle.
Cancer meta? It was the COMMUNITY'S idea to make ranged champions "ADC" the botlane main champion, back in season 1 it was whatever the fuck you wanted to do and everyone had fun doing so.

I mean, there is a reason Yis win rate in higher elo plummets, and its because there is alot higher likelihood of drafting hard cc, and hard cc counters yi. Being silver is not a balance issue sorry.

I was surprised by this meta as well. My friend told me how he played kench with marksman jungle who farms both jungle and mid. The jungle gets 3 items in 15-20 min, and then just continues to carry the entire game. So it's not just Yi/Taric, it's tank mid+ jungle who farms mid. Interesting, fun, but why...

You aren't the only one I been starting to hate the game since the introduction of leathality but I came to hate the game this season.
Im silver too, had this happen yesterday. I was lux mid and we had Xin jungle. I just pushed mid asap when ever they werent in lane, and then smacked them as much as i could when they were there, to put their hp as low as possible and make farming annoying. Burned like 2 ults just to stop their backs behind mid tower, waste their time and be annoying, warded everything i could to keep an eye on them so i can avoid being murdered and my teammates. Rotated bot with xin a few times while the combo was top side. xin was counterjungling when he could. They ended up ffing. (buying pinks seems stupid but if they stop to clear it its more time bought for your team to catch up and not let him farm as fast).
Taric yi is very strong in the late game anyway so the combo makes it where you need to be way more proactive, and change your mindset, your goal literally changes to stop the strat, instead of yey stay safe, farm, make plays, get fed, carry etc. nope. Forget that. Your purpouse in life as a jungler and midlaner at this point is to make their life hell and the lives of their teammates hell.
Rofl...a fed Yi has always been counterable and always will be. If your team lacks the hard CC to shut him down, then yeah you're probably screwed.
the same shit with nunu + karthus is even more aids than taric yi tbh

At least its innovative and new compared to the same cookie cutter champion compositions we've had the past 5 seasons. Honestly we're starting to see real diversity to team compositions, a chance at dissolving the forced meta of adc bot, mage mid, tank/bruiser top and you people think that's a problem? Yeah, yi needs a nerf given his current state, but don't howl in rage and call something cancer just because it's a new way of doing things. Especially when it's a strategy that can be easily countered if you took the time to read into it.
This isn't only about yi+taric, this is about a lot of combinations(graves + braum, kai'sa + braum/thresh/alistar, kayle + nunu). There are lots of combinations . Playing against this it feels like you are useless, you have no chance, when you see them, you just run. Having this in your team, again, makes you feel useless because it doesn't matter if you feed or you win your lane, your game depends on what your jungler and booster does...So it feels like 8 people are useless. This is bad, really bad
This is like the only actual gameplay post I agree with - that gold funnel yi boosting strat is absolute cancer and has basically 0 counterplay so I'm glad they're cutting Yi's balls off when it comes to lane pushing
i only played once against this strategy so far by the way. once we won, once my mid laner got crushed.
i think you can beat it easily by locking in a lane freeze. something mid laners usually dont do. theyre used to poke wars, and hard shoving their lane so they can roam.
if you lock in a freeze infront of your turret, while the yi/taric duo jungles, theyre effectively losing gold and xp, since their minions always kill your minions as fast as they arrive.
so there is never really a wave for them to come mid for and pick it up. they effectively end up just getting the jungle gold and xp.
you just have to have a way of preventing them from getting close to your wave and pushing theirs into your turret to bounce it off.
someone who can stun an entire minion wave to forcefully freeze it outside of his turret might be able to pull it off. veigar with his e, or viktor with his w could work.
