I think that the coin changes have really hurt Soraka and Janna. The lack of passive health regen basically makes coin a worse spelltheif's as it doesn't even give ap to the person who buys it. Additionally, the new quest passive on spelltheif's is much better than coins in my opinion. Anyone else have thoughts?

The free skill is nice, but it doesn't feel that impactful. And as the game goes on the reward becomes worse. Spellthief's quest will always be helpful.
Yeah i dont know what riot was doing with this one :( all coin changes did was encourage passive supports to put themselves in compromising situations which no one will be happy about now ur janna just gave first blood lvl 2 by walking up for gold getting snared and auto'd by draven twice... and pushing in is punished cause they love to drop under enemy turrets. A friend of mine had an interesting solution however and riot if you see this feel free to take it is all yours he purposes having the coins be slowly pulled towards your nexus, keeps it fun and gamelike to have to walk around for the coins and doesn't completely alienate a entire player bases' playstlye
Well... the range pickup is enough to me. Sometimes, i give up on a few coins because they're really bad ideas, but that's just for a few coins.
I did notice the lack of hp regen, especially on Janna. And now i'm less prone to trade while playing them in the early levels because i won't be able to heal up as easily after, true. It's sad because they were able to trade lvl 1-2 thanks to that, now there's on more reason to heal-bot.
And yes, the earlier point isn't that powerful. Also, is it true the earlier point cannot be put in your ult?
I was heavily considering using the new coin on karma until I realized it gives no cdr... As if I'm going to give up my 45% cdr build for that XD
Since they nerfed coin, I just started spellthief to go into Frost Queens on Janna. I used to just start with coin and sell it later for Frost Queen's because of the better passive lane stats and gold income (considering Janna isn't a particularly poke-oriented champion), but now that all those stats are basically gone I just start spell thief to make the transition easier.

I've always gone spellthief's on Janna. I make so much more gold and it makes your shield stronger. I poke a lot as Janna with my shield to win trades cuz it gives AD. It just has always seemed like the better choice to me
Why does it matter janna's gameplay is so one dimensional you can consider not building anything and you'd be doing the same thing.
