Ranked emblems

Are ranked emblems required to earn end of season rewards? I really want to earn the end of season rewards and so I worked hard to get into gold rank, which happened before the introduction of ranked emblems. When i did achieve gold rank, I decided not to play ranked anymore so I was simply wondering if the emblem is required.

Doubt it is, just something that shows if you continue to play after it was introduced.
