Why Iron players in higher tier Silver?

I just lost promos from an Irelia feeding a Renekton 7-1 in the first 15 minutes. I went into the players profile afterwards and saw they were an Iron 1 player. Even in the preseason video it discusses the different difficulties and strategies of the various tiers. I don't understand why riot has made it possible for such a team comp.

MMR is a complete shit show at the moment.

Most of the Iron players are smurfs anyway which can be beneficial to you.

Because his mmr was in high silver. He's a high silver player who was a victim of this season's weird decision to place all players in Iron.
