Supports. (Dying Meta)

The fact that supports are the most under appreciated in low elo is cancer. Non-traditional supports like Malzahar, Zyra, and Brand have been a problem since their reworks and it's extremely difficult for a more traditional support to not feel overwhelmed. To give you an example just look at a match-up like Brand and Jhin versus a Cait and Soraka. There is no possible way the Raka and Cait can win without doing some next level outplays or simply having the jungler intervene. It's a huge problem that there can be an additional mage in a team if the "support" goes these off-meta picks. It's just an unfair advantage that needs to be resolved but we all know that shit aint happening any time soon.

Seen this video before. I like Gbay99.

The easiest way to deal with this is for Riot to make Mages have low base damages and higher scaling like it was before Mid Season 6. This will kick mages like Brand and Mal out. As for making Supports more viable... I have an idea, one that Riot will not likely do.

But for now, just getting Riot to make mages back before Mid Season 6 is best for now.

Its so gratifying to go RE as Karma and you do a big team escape before things get bad. I dont know why traditional supports are getting ditched, they are usually one of the most useful roles in game.

Funny, I never found this to be that hard. Just avoid their skillshots. You get to play from a very safe range and sustain > poke. If you're losing this lane, it's because you aren't playing it correctly.

As for the video, it's foolish to take it too seriously, because his argument boils down to "People don't like supports because they don't stroke your epeen hard enough." The one point he casually mentions as an off-handed comment is the real reason: You're stuck in lane with a crybaby, entitled ADC who thinks he's a lot better than he actually is.

If he were as good as he thought, he wouldn't need a support, nor rage when the support goes to gank another lane. He would know how to avoid poke and CC, he'd put down his own wards in conjunction with yours to make the lane safer, he'd know when/how to fight under tower and when to leave it, he wouldn't miss 50% of his CS.

This is why I always tell both supports and ADCs that they need to learn how to evaluate how good their lane partner is, and play accordingly. As much as it sounds like I'm bashing on ADCs here, the reciprocal is true too: People don't like to play ADC because of undependable support players. But that doesn't get talked about in that context--it's always instead phrased as "ADCs are bad this season," or "How to fix ADCs." People always forget that lane is a 2v2 by default, so talking about one without the other is a bit like trying to talk about politics without addressing economics (or visa versa).

Mage sups are not better. Maybe better than Soroka, she isn't great. But not better than Janna Blitzcrank Leona Braum Thresh Nami

Forgot to mention the skill gap I was referring to, I'm talking about how Low ELO players tend to be less strategic and knowledgable when facing different opponents (i.e. other champions).

That's a different topic than the viability (or popularity) of supports. Low elo is just players learning to not suck.

Another point I questioned was the fact that a Mage at bot with a single cc spell that can benefit an ADC is going to do extremely better than most supports. There is no denying that a mage like Veigar or Brand can help the ADC secure kills or help zone out enemies with little to no effort as compared to a traditional support like a Thresh or Braum. One must take into account that I'm talking about Low tier elo players because it is a problem and reason to why some people stay in this low elos (mainly talking about Support and ADC mains.) I love this game but the way Riot handles the balances and favors the LCS community rather than the majority of casual or low-elo players is disgusting and shameful. Might as well be asking for help with Call of Duty Window Store's service.

You are talking about zoning potential, and Blitz, Thresh, Nautilus, Leona, Sion, Lux, and Morgana all do this simply by existing in lane. Veigar's E is annoying, but Brand's Q stun is probably the least reliable CC in the game (among possible supports), and his threat comes from the huge damage he can do if you don't dodge his abilities.

That said, claiming these mage supports are "better" than most traditional supports is just wrong. They are a type of lane composition known as "kill lanes" or "cheese lanes," and those depend on getting ahead to succeed. If they don't get kills--or worse, get killed--they become useless post-lane phase.
