Need serious help with aatrox...

I cannot win with him....like at all; my match history has been terrible with him. I always give first blood and I get outtraded hard lvl 1-3. When I go top I always get outpoked and zoned from my minions so I cannot lifesteal....in the jg I just do not have enough presence. He feel mediocre in my opinion...I can go 2/0 and I feel the same as a 0/4 darius. How do I effectively play aatrox? I either go damage and bursted or tank to just be cc'd over long fights. I understand the bloodwell basics I just feel like I have to overcommit to kill one enemy; while the enemy uses one ability and effectively trades against me. He has to choose between a healing defense or building up the bloodwell when fighting melee (offense). I usually go the standard tank build on mobafire or the bloodrazer, Hydra, rageblade ----> tank build for jg. What are some tips for a plastic 7 like myself with this underrated champ (besides not play him)?

An easy way to fill the blood well is to use your W blood price.

Don't trade until your blood well is full, poke with E, play safe.

When the bloodwell is full (or when you only need 1 charge to fill it), engage with a Q and switch your W to the healing passive, you should win trades easily. against a fleeing enemy, the damage W is better since you won't need to sustain any damage.

I play Aatrox in the jungle tho, just some tips that might be usefull in lane.

Jungle: item 1416 item 3153 item 3742 item 3111 item 3065 item 3053

Some good items:

item 3194 against DOT mages or mages with low CD like Cassiopeia, Swain, Khartus, Orianna, Syndra, item 3071 For more damage item 3091 For on hit effect and heavy AP teams item 3001 If your team has a lot of AP item 3022 For sticking power and health

if your skills are good at laning , you might take it to a new level if you pick aatrox he has poke and can easily dive enemy champions and his passive allows him to revive back ,either if it's range or melee champ your against with when you are on the rift , you gotta know when to trade or buy items that realy make damage and not just poke , a little armor , be aware when your like 3/0 expect mid and jungler to come top lane to shut you down , if you in the jungle go into enemy jungle to outplay or even kill him a few times to make enemy jungler behind , guardian angel to blood thirst would be a good head start with some attack speed and your good to go with some armor to be a little tanky , he is not an easy champ to just go in lane and think you win easy , your skills has to be really sharp for some other champs that you might play , train with him more with practice tool , get used to his mechanics first or normal draft before you go in ranked is a whole other level of plays , hope this helps
