Diana - Life in Moonlight

Hey everyone!

I am someone who has played since beta. I play on and off and every season I change my main roles. None of that matters! I am here to talk about DIana and what I expect of her.

For Diana to be a proper assassin she needs the ability to get in and do her job. So we expect a dash. She will also need the ability to get out or survive a fight. So we expect some form of escape. We also want to build in some counter play as well as make sure the enemy can understand when she is most powerful. On those notes, here are some of my ideas.

Passive: Diana permanently has 20% bonus attack speed. Every 3rd attack cleaves nearby enemies for magic damage. The counter will reset if Diana hasn't attacked for 3.5 seconds.

Diana no longer has mana. Instead she has a resource called Lunar Strength. When full she can user her ult. (She now starts the game with her ult unlocked) Diana gains Lunar Strength with her basic attacks and spells.

Q: Active: Diana unleashes a bolt of lunar energy that travels in an arc. Enemies struck take magic damage and are afflicted with Moonlight, granting sight of them for 3 seconds. Your other spells on that target will consume Moonlight and restore some Lunar Strength.

Lunar Strength Bonus: Diana dashes towards the end point of the Crescent Strike. Enemies passed through take damage.

W: Active: Diana reveals and draws in all nearby enemies to her location, dealing damage and slowing them for 2 seconds.

Lunar Strength Bonus: Diana gains a shield deals damage to nearby enemies afflicting them with Moonlight. Your other spells on that target will consume Moonlight and restore some Lunar Strength.

E: Active: Diana becomes the living embodiment of the vengeful moon, rushing at an enemy and dealing magic damage to it.

Lunar Strength Bonus: Dash at an enemy to deal high magic damage and increase damage taken by the target by 15% for 5 seconds.

R: Active: Diana consumes all of her Lunar Strength to activate the Lunar Strength Bonus of the last spell she cast within 5 seconds.

Passive : +Spell Vamp and + Lifesteal while Lunar strength is full.

Alright, I have not had a lot of time to refine this design. I just thought of it while at lunch. Let me know what you think. I am looking for feedback to improve this design concept. I understand the wording is not spot on and will need to be fixed but I think you are able to get the idea.

I am sad that no one has any feedback on the design... I can only assume its perfect.

Thanks everyone!

Hmm I am a bit confused so please clarify: It seems she only gets her shield if use her r to consume her lunar strength bonus. This will make her a bit weaker inlane but much weaker as a jungler depending on how easy it is to gain this lunar strength (btw how much does a single use of r costs? and how much is she able to store?).

Other than this I have a hard time seeing how this solves any of her current problems. As you state she needs a way to stay in the fight without getting blown up or she needs a way out. This design does not give her any new abilities outside of her second activation of her q. This may be enough but having to save your poke skill as your way out and possibly not being able to use it for damage makes her combo seem really weird.

Another thing is: How is the damage spread out on her abilities? are they all loaded in her aa? or maybe her pull? Her q with this design seems like a bad idea but I might be wrong depending on how you see her.

I think she's pretty good the way she is now. Sure, she doesn't have an escape per se, but she has other things going for her. A Nashor's build has much better sustained damage than you expect from an assassin, and a straight AP build has a reasonable expectation of being able to mitigate significant damage with her shields, plus her CC is above average.

I'm really not into using her Q as an escape. If I were to change something about her, it would be to make her feel more connected to the moon: invoke and utilize moonlight in more ways.
